SUSPENDED ex-Labour MP Nick Brown today confirmed he won't stand at the next general election.
Mr Brown, a former chief whip, had the whip removed in September 2022 and was put under investigation.
But more than 12 months on party chiefs STILL won't say what caused the move or when the probe will conclude.
Today Mr Brown announced he won't stand at the next election and is also quitting Labour with a “heavy heart”.
He said the party's complaints process is “fundamentally, and inexcusably, flawed”.
Mr Brown still receives a tax-payer funded salary of £86,584.
The MP for Newcastle upon Tyne East was chief whip for every Labour leader from Tony Blair onwards.
At 72 he's one of the party's longest serving politicians.
At the time of his suspension Mr Brown said he's “cooperating fully” with Labour's investigation.
The senior MP said: “There has been a complaint made about me to the Labour party, which is under investigation.
"I am therefore under an administrative suspension from the Labour party until the investigation is concluded.
"I’m not aware of what the complaint is. I am cooperating fully with the investigation.”
