In their video, the experts at Root Growings (@rootgrowings) discussed the benefits and care requirements for each plant.

"Let me show you three houseplants that can reduce dust in your home," the host said.

He explained that dust refers to "the tiny particles of solid or liquid matter that can be harmful to your health, especially if you have allergies, asthma, or respiratory problems."

First, he advised viewers to invest in a Pygmy Date Palm, known officially as Phoenix roebelenii.

"This is a small palm tree with feathery fronds that can catch dust with their tiny hairs," he explained.

"It also absorbs some harmful gases like carbon monoxide and formaldehyde," the Instagrammer added.

He shared that the plant "needs bright light, moderate water, and regular misting and fertilizing."

The Pygmy Date Palm is also a pet-friendly addition to your home.

For his next plant, he recommended purchasing a Fiscus Elastica, also known as the rubber plant.

"This is a large plant with glossy leaves that have a waxy coating that attracts dust," he told his audience.

"It also removes some toxins like benzene and xylene and needs bright light, water when dry, and monthly fertilizing and pruning," the expert said.

However, he pointed out that the rubber plant is not suitable for homes with pets.

Finally, he discussed the benefits of spider plants or chlorophytum comosum.

"This is a low-maintenance plant with slender leaves that have fine hairs that trap dust," he explained.

"It also eliminates some pollutants like formaldehyde and carbon monoxide," he added.

He advised viewers to give the plants lots of bright light as well as water when dry and biweekly fertilizing and trimming.

The professional recommended the plant for homes with pets.
