I’m 64 but people call me ‘fit’ because I look decades younger & it’s all thanks to mega easy 90/10 food rule I stick to

MANY of us fork out hundreds of pounds on pricey skincare products in a bid to turn back the clock.

But one age-defying woman, who is 64-years-old but often mistaken for looking decades younger, has revealed there's no need to splash the cash...as she credits her youthful appearance to a simple food rule.

Harrah Brown, who can often be seen proudly flaunting her svelte figure in skimpy bikinis on social media, uses her platform to encourage people to be "beautiful, fit and confident at any age."

In a recent clip posted to Instagram (@harrah.brown), she unpacks her food shopping and notes how she swears by following a 90/10 rule - the 90 meaning the nutritious foods she eats, and the remaining 10% being the 'naughty' foods she treats herself to during a night out.

The timeless beauty also goes on to share the items she credits for helping her to lose "menopause belly fat and become more lean and strong."

Alongside the video, she penned: "These are the types of foods I buy each week. I practise 90/10 rule.

Fresh raspberries and frozen blueberries

Amongst some of the healthy items on Harrah's shopping list include fresh and frozen berries.

Research has found that berries can offer both brain health benefits and can improve your cognitive function, along with delaying the ageing process.

Writing for CNBC, longevity researcher and regenerative medicine doctor Dr Neil Paulvin said that blueberries are high in antioxidants called anthocyanins.

These can help keep cells healthy and prevent them from being damaged while also being involved in processes that repair DNA.

Olive oil

Olive oil is a well known staple of the Mediterranean diet and has a whole host of different health benefits.

It's rich vitamins and antioxidants, and has been "linked to improved skin moisturisation, anti-ageing effects, and relief from sun damage," according to research reported by verywellhealth.

Nuts, almond milk and fresh ground peanut butter

Harrah can also be seen unpacking nuts and also drinks almost milk in her daily cup of coffee.

A handful of nuts is the preferred snack of choice for people living in the Blue Zones, five regions across the world where people regularly live to the age of 100.

London-based nutritionist, Sophie Trotman, previously told Fabulous how nuts such as almonds and walnuts are all rich in vitamin E, protein, and omega-3 fatty acids and contain minerals like zinc that aid in skin renewal.

"Flaxseeds are particularly high in alpha-linolenic acid, a type of omega-3 fatty acid, which can help to improve the skin's appearance over time as well," she said.

Salmon and halibut

The 64-year-old also says she's also a fan of eating fish for dinner because it's filled with protein.

According to a study of 4,165 participants aged 60 years and older, which was published in the journal Springer Link, eating fish at least “twice a week” can reduce the risk of mortality by a staggering 42 percent.

Not only that, but salmon also gives us omega 3 essential fats, which are important for helping control blood pressure and overall heart health

Cucumber, romaine lettuce, green cabbage, and cilantro

Among the other health essentials in Harrah's food shop include vegetables such as cucumber, romaine lettuce, green cabbage, and cilantro.

A study from Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health found that eating three servings of vegetables and two portions of fruit a day was the perfect amount for longevity in life.

The 64-year-old also snaps up some low-fat yoghurt that has 16 grams of protein, a small block of Gruyère cheese, chicken breast, spiced roast beef and some limes and lemons.

“These are the types of foods that I buy on a regular basis," Harrah concludes.
