WASHING machines are essential in our homes, as we rely on them daily to clean our clothes.
But what we often forget is that sometimes the washing machine needs a little cleaning itself.
One cleaning enthusiast, however, has surprised people by revealing a secret button on her washing machine that can help make your clothes even cleaner.
Mindy McKnight shared the discovery in a video with her 688k TikTok followers.
The video begins with her pulling out the detergent drawer and pointing to the plastic at the back, which seems to have a button.
She said: “Ever wondered what this push button is for on your washing machine drawers? Check this out.”

Mindy explained that when you push the button, the tray slides all the way out, making it much easier to clean.
She then takes it over to her sink and uses soap to remove all the residual mould, mildew, and softener buildup.
Mindy added: “If you don't have that push button, you can take lemon juice, put it into those, then baking soda, and you'll see it start to activate.
"Then, take a scrub brush or a toothbrush and scrub all of that away. Make sure to pull the tops off so that, instead of looking like that, they look like this. All clean.”
Her video gained over 24,000 likes, with many cleaning enthusiasts rushing to the comments to share their thoughts.
One commenter wrote: “So happy to have found this video. I've been wanting to clean ours for a while but didn’t want to break it.”
