He said: "First of all it is [the] club's decisions, none of them is only my decision.

"It is always backed or even brought up through the scouting, recruitment, technical director, sporting director.

"It is a decision made by more than just one. But, some, you know also players and personalities and it has to fit also in the finance."

Matthijs de Ligt spoke about the "special relationship" he has with Noussair Mazraoui, who followed him to Man Utd from Bayern Munich.

He told Man Utd.com: “He is an amazing guy. An amazing player.

“I have known him already for a very long time. I think around ten years.

“It’s so funny, we spoke about it last week! There is a reason we always come together, like before at Ajax and then at Bayern Munich. And, now, Manchester United.

“It’s such a special relationship. I’m really glad that he’s also going to be here. I think we are going to help each other a lot."

  • Ten Hag shares big warning

Erik ten Hag says his team is not ready for the start of the new campaign after a busy pre-season.

The Manchester United manager has had to juggle late arrivals from major tournaments with new arrivals from other clubs.

Ten Hag said: “It’s true, it’s not the pre-season where in 5-6 weeks work on a team, it’s very complicated.

“We had the USA tour squad and then we added the players from the Euros and Copa America and now new signings and we have to make a team from it.

“That team is not ready but the league starts and more managers have this problem.

“Still, we have some room, have some principles and we have to make a start. We can’t hide, we have to deal with it.”

  • Man Utd agree sponsorship deal

Premier League giants Man United have reached an agreement with American tech company Qualcomm worth £300m to continue as the Red Devils’ shirt sponsorship for the next five years.

The Manchester club will see Snapdragon on the front of their shirts for the first time this season after taking over from TeamViewer, who appeared on the jerseys of the Premier League club for the previous three campaigns.

The Germany-based software firm announced in 2022 that it did not intend to renew its deal with Man United, which was supposed to be a five-year agreement worth £47m beginning in 2021.

According to The Independent, Man United have already agreed an extension with Qualcomm to have Snapdragon on the front of their shirts until 2029 after the American tech company and the FA Cup winners triggered an extension to their agreement.

  • Former PSG star offered to Prem

Former Paris Saint-Germain star Marco Verratti has been offered to Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City, according to HITC.

Man Utd and Liverpool and in search of a number six and could look to Verratti to fulfil that role.

  • New Prem rule to affect Man Utd

A strict rule change to set-pieces is going to be introduced in the Premier League this season

Officials will clamp down on players’ attempts to impede opponents during free kicks and corners.

Several teams employed tactics that involved obstructing or blocking opponents, including the opposition goalkeeper.

However, they will not be able to do anything like that this time around.

According to The Times, acts of holding, blocking and obstructing during set-pieces will be penalised more stringently from this season.

  • Stam sends Ten Hag warning

Man Utd legend Jaap Stam insists Erik ten Hag should "look at himself" and leave Old Trafford.

Ten Hag endured a difficult 2023-24 campaign with the Red Devils and came close to losing his job.

Speaking to Simon Jordan on his William Hill podcast, Stam said: "For Ten Hag, it's his third season at United – I think he needs to go.

"I think it's good he signed a new contract because he still needs that little bit of help.

"He needs to look at himself and how last season panned out, I don't always agree with him in terms of him saying they played good football.

"I understand that as a manager you need to be positive about your players and help them out by taking some of the pressure away.

"That said, it's also good to just be honest as a manager and say that your team played rubbish football.

"He needs to step up this season, there have been a lot of changes made at the club with the staff so I'm curious how it's going to work out for them."

  • Man Utd business not over

Manchester United could bring in another signing this summer, according to David Ornstein.

He said on Sky Sports News: “I think so. Midfield is clearly an area of concern and where they want to invest in central midfield. Do they need extra cover at full-back still?

“Probably not now that Mazraoui comes in, and interestingly, it's been given the number three shirt, so maybe he will play it left-back.

“And then perhaps, before the window shuts, maybe something more in attack, they're constantly being linked. It's a really fascinating summer at Old Trafford.”

  • Sheringham shares Premier League predictions

Teddy Sheringham believes his old club Man Utd will not qualify for the Champions League this season.

He tipped another of his former teams Tottenham for the top four, and he could not look past Man City for the title.

Sheringham told onlinepoker.ltd: "I think Manchester City will win it again. Arsenal will be second again. Aston Villa will be third and Tottenham will be fourth.

"With Tottenham, I think it’s possible to qualify for the Champions League.

"I would love to see a title challenge and I think they could do that if things go their way, but fourth is achievable.

"I’m looking around at Liverpool and I think they may have a transitional season with the new manager coming in."

  • Prem make big referee change

Fans will be NOT told which clubs every referee supports during the Premier League season.

It comes after the huge controversy surrounding Nottingham Forest last term.

The West Midlands club criticised PGMOL after believing that Stuart Attwell had been biased against them.

The official was in charge of VAR as Forest were not given three penalties in their defeat against Everton.

The club revealed that they told the Premier League that Atwell was a Luton Town supporter before the game.

  • De Ligt speaks for first time

New Man Utd arrival Matthijs de Ligt spoke highly of six former United stars in his first interview at the club.

He said: “There’s a lot of history in this club. grew up with the team of Cristiano Ronaldo, Vidic, Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney, Paul Scholes, Edwin van der Sar, the Dutchman. There’s so much history in this club.

“I’m speaking about 20 years ago, but even further back, they won the Champions League, the Treble in 1999. It’s such a big historic club. You can feel this, it’s in the air here, you can breathe the history.

“Hopefully me, but also the other players coming now this summer, can be part of the next history of Manchester United and get the club back to where it belongs - on top.”

  • Ryan Giggs shares transfer concern

Ryan Giggs believes Man Utd have made a mistake by selling Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

He told Webby and O’Neill on YouTube: “I would have stayed away from him, especially later on (in my career)!”

“One-on-one, obviously, he’s one of the best in the league.

“I would have played in that little pocket rather than up against him. A couple of times I would have faked to cross or shoot just to nick a penalty cause he did go down to ground quite a lot.”

  • Man Utd receive midfielder transfer boost

Manchester United have been given a transfer boost as Paris Saint-Germain apparently ‘need to sell’ Uruguay international Manuel Ugarte this summer.

United made the midfielder a key target this summer but were unwilling to match PSG's £51million asking price.

However french football expert Jonathan Johnson has explained why PSG ‘need to sell’ Ugarte and more players this month as they ‘try’ for a swap deal with Man Utd.

Evanilson, 24, is regarded as one of the most exciting players in Europe and United – who lost 3-0 to Bournemouth at Old Trafford last term – made him a No.1 target in 2022.

  • Shearer on top four race

Alan Shearer has discussed the race for the top four after predicting Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool and Newcastle to get into the Champions League places.

He told Betfair: “I think Liverpool will finish in the top four again. I’d be hopeful of Newcastle because they haven’t got European football to contend with this year so in terms of injuries and squad availability, that should help them. If they can get a free run then I’d be hopeful that Newcastle could finish fourth.

“There are other teams that will be challenging. I was impressed with Man United in the Community Shield. They looked really good and had the better chances – albeit Man City still had a few players out injured or still recovering from the Euros but I think it’ll be a really tight race for the top four.

I think Spurs will challenge again. Dominic Solanke is a good signing for them. They paid a lot of money for him but he’s what they needed and he will help them kick on a little bit more as well.”

  • Keane and Schmeichel's half-time bust-up

Roy Keane and Peter Schmeichel almost got into a fight at half-time during a game in their Treble-winning season, former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam has revealed.

Speaking on William Hill’s podcast Up Front with Simon Jordan, he said: "In the season we won the Treble, we had a lot of draws towards the start but we grew throughout.

"We started to feel as a team that we could do very well and the opposition started to become scared of us. By the time it got to Christmas the belief was very strong.

"We were all pushing each other. Sir Alex was a big presence in the dressing room and he pushed us, but we also had players within the dressing room doing that, too.

"Roy Keane and Peter Schmeichel would almost be fighting at half-time, players were letting each other know that they needed to step up.

"Everybody was allowed to speak as long as you were doing your own job, but if you weren’t then people would let you know."

  • De Zerbi warns Greenwood

Mason Greenwood received a stern warning from Marseille boss Roberto De Zerbi after his arrival from Manchester United.

De Zerbi, 45, was very keen on the forward after an impressive loan stint at Getafe last season.

However, the Italian tactician issued a strict warning in their first phone call as he told him to take Marseille seriously.

De Zerbi told L'Equipe: "Greenwood is the first player I called. I spoke with his father, who must be the same age as me.

"I warned him about the demands of this club, telling him: 'OM is OM'.

"He replied: 'I remember the historic OM, which played in European Cup finals'."

RIo Ferdinand has hinted at when Cristiano Ronaldo will finally hang up his boots for the last time.

He said on social media: "I can’t give too much away, but I’ve been doing a few bits with Cristiano behind the scenes and he’s playing as long as he wants.

"He ain’t going nowhere. And I was gobsmacked.

"And listen, you’ll see it in time, but minimum three years I think he plays for again."

Ronaldo is currently in the last year of his contract with Al-Nassr and no extension has been agreed yet.

  • Early team news for Fulham clash

It may be a new look and a new era for Manchester United, but it's the same old injury problems ahead of Friday's clash with Fulham at Old Trafford.

They'll be without new £52m signing Leny Yoro as he continues to recover from surgery, following an injury on his pre-season debut for the club.

Rasmus Hojlund, who was injured in the same game, is expected to miss the first month of the season with his knock.

New striker Joshua Zirkzee is yet to get any minutes for United and would be a surprise starter if he was named in Ten Hag's starting lineup, with Bruno Fernandes likely to reprise his role as a false nine in Hojlund's absence.

Luke Shaw could feature after returning from injury at the back end of Euro 2024 with England.

Victor Lindelof didn't play any part against Man City in the Community Shield, but his injury is not believed to be serious.

  • Fernandes in one word

Manchester United players and staff have described captain Bruno Fernandes after he signed a new deal until 2027 with the option of another year.

The Red Devils skipper is one of the biggest characters in the dressing room and was described positively by a host of faces at Old Trafford.

  • Rooney watched First Dates after Plymouth loss

Wayne Rooney has revealed he got over his devastating Plymouth debut defeat by watching popular TV show First Dates.

The England and Manchester United legend saw his new Argyle side thrashed 4-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in their first match of the new Championship season.

Explaining what he did after the game, he said: "There’s always pressure, that’s part of the game.

"After the game on Sunday I turned my phone off and watched an episode of First Dates.

"It’s important you switch off, you can get away from it, and then I revisited it Monday morning and watched the game back.

"You can have a bad game, it happens. It’s important they are able to switch off because sometimes you can think about it too much and it affects you mentally."

  • More from Berrada

"We have had a busy summer so far, with transformation on and off the pitch. We welcome Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to the club; four excellent talents with a bright future here.

"We are delighted that club captain, Bruno Fernandes, has put pen to paper and committed his future to United and Erik ten Hag has extended his contract on the back of our FA Cup success. Dan Ashworth has joined as Sporting Director and Jason Wilcox as Technical Director. We are building a strong and talented football structure to work with Erik and ensure that we are focused on long-term success. We are also looking to build a world-leading non-football leadership team, which I know will help us to thrive.

"It is an enormous privilege to be taking my seat alongside all of you; I’ve been anticipating this for months. There is no better way to begin than right here, under the floodlights, with the incredible atmosphere that this stadium is famous for.

"I enjoyed spending time with our colleagues on the pre-season tour of the US, and I particularly enjoyed meeting so many of our American and travelling fans while we were there. We met with our new front-of-shirt partner Snapdragon at their home in San Diego and I was hugely impressed with how their market-leading technology will help us to perform.

"We are working hard to transform Carrington so that both our men’s and women’s teams have access to outstanding training facilities. You will be aware we have appointed a joint task force to explore options for the future regeneration of the Old Trafford area with a world-class stadium at the heart of it. It is the right time for us to be moving forward with both projects and our owners and the management team are completely committed to them.

"This is an eventful time for the club. Everything we do has to help us to perform on the pitch and that is our number one priority. It is so important, particularly in times of change, that our bond with you supporters is closer than ever. This will continue to be an important priority for us. All of you must be central to everything we do.

"I look forward to meeting many of you at Old Trafford and over the course of the season. This is your club. I promise that I will always remember that and treat it with the care, dedication and respect it deserves."

  • Omar Berrada message to Man Utd fans

Manchester United's new CEO has released a message to the fans ahead of the new season - which gets underway when they host Fulham on Friday night.

He said: "Dear fans. Welcome back to Old Trafford for our first Premier League match of the 2024/25 season. This is a particularly special occasion for me, as it marks my first game here as chief executive of this magnificent club.

"Your support at Wembley was fantastic, where we just came up short in the Community Shield. We were disappointed not to win the game, but can take a lot of positives from it.

"When I was invited to join Manchester United late last year, I didn’t hesitate. As a child growing up my first memory of the club was my father telling me stories of legendary players like Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and many others.

"It is impossible not to be aware of the weight of history. From the tragedy of Munich to the triumph at Wembley 10 years later, I am honoured to be part of a place where overcoming the greatest adversities and rising again to the greatest glories is in our DNA.

"That glorious history speaks for itself. When I walked through the doors for the first time last month, I was immediately struck by the enormity of the club and what it means to our fans here in Manchester and all over the world. I think it’s impossible to understand how big Manchester United really is until you’re on the inside. That’s one advantage all of you have had over me, but I’m catching up and I feel it more and more every day. It is a very easy place to fall in love with."
