Andy Murray to play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon
Sir Andy Murray will play mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu at Wimbledon, his team has announced.
Sir Andy said on Tuesday he would not be competing in the men's singles at the tournament - in what is his final appearance at the All England Club.
But he said he would compete in the doubles with his brother Jamie for the first time.
The 37-year-old will now also team up with Raducanu, a former US Open champion, after the pair were granted a wild card entry.
Sir Andy played mixed doubles with Serena Williams at Wimbledon in 2019, with the duo making it to the third round.
The star previously announced he was planning to retire from tennis after the Olympics in Paris this summer.
The former world number one had been in a race against time to compete at Wimbledon after pulling out of the Queen's Club tournament last month due to an injury.
The two-time Wimbledon champion had back surgery days later but had still been hoping to play against Czech Tomas Machac - until he pulled out at the last minute.
Raducanu won her opening singles match at the tournament on Monday, saying she took inspiration from England's victory over Slovakia at the Euros by "winning ugly".
Her partnership with Sir Andy will mark her grand slam debut in doubles.
The 21-year-old floated the idea of teaming up with the Scot two years ago when she told BBC Breakfast: "We haven't actually spoken about it but it's something we feel we both want to do."
