I’m on a mission against mould and I swear by my super simple, three-ingredient DIY spray – it works in no time
A WOMAN who is on a mission against mould has shared a super simple hack that you’ll need to try.
And don’t worry, you won’t need to go out and splash the cash on fancy cleaning products - as you may even have the answers in your cupboard already.
Anita Birges, a Sydney-based mum and self-proclaimed ‘Queen of Hacks’, regularly shares her useful home organising and cleaning tips and tricks online - and her three-ingredient DIY mould spray is one you won’t want to miss.
Posting on social media, Anita explained that her children’s lunch boxes were covered in mould, but thanks to two essential oils and white vinegar, the nasty stuff was gone in no time.
As she showed off the mouldy bags, she said: “My mission against mould continues - two weeks ago when the school holidays started, I unpacked the school bags, cleaned the lunch boxes and put them away in a cupboard.
“Now, two weeks later, I wanna get prepared and this is what I found - mould. Again. All over the lunch box bags.

“Now, some of you might be saying throw it out and start again, but they're expensive and I also don't want to add to landfill.
“So don't worry guys, I have got the lunch pack cleaning hack for you.”
Anita then made her ‘DIY mould spray’, as she mixed together three ingredients.
To create the spray, all you’ll need is 10 drops of clove oil, 10 drops of tea tree oil and 100ml of white vinegar.
Once binded together, Anita added the mixture to a spray bottle, which she then used to spray the solution all over the lunch boxes, inside and out.
Anita left the lunch boxes to soak for 30 minutes, before putting them in the washing machine, on a gentle, cold water cycle.
Once washed, Anita explained: “Leave them to dry in the sun (if there is any), or on a towel indoors.
The thrilled mother and cleaning fan then showed off her now clean and fresh lunch boxes, as she claimed: “Mould free and ready for school!
"Happy days!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @miseenplace_au, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 34,600 views.
But some users were still concerned, as one person said: “It’s all fine and dandy to want to save money but mould can be deadly and is it worth the risk?”
To this, Anita replied: “There are different types of mould and yes, some can cause health issues but not the type of mould on this lunch cooler bag.”
