TUCKER Carlson has revealed he's interviewing Vladimir Putin as he's set to become the first Western journalist to interview the Russian president since the war between Russia and Ukraine broke out.
Carlson broke his silence on the rumored interview after being pictured in Moscow over the weekend.
"There are risks to conducting an interview like this, obviously," Carlson said after confirming he'll be interviewing Putin tonight.
The former Fox News anchor revealed he and his team had carefully considered conducting the interview for several months before revealing the reasoning behind their decision.
"First, because it's our job. We're in journalism. Our duty is to inform people. Two years into a war that's reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed," Carlson said in a video posted on his X, formerly Twitter, account.
"They have no real idea what's happening in this region, here in Russia or 600 miles away in Ukraine. But they should know, they're paying for much of it in ways they might not fully yet perceive."
Carlson went on to call the war in Ukraine a "human disaster" that has left thousands dead, including a generation of young Ukrainians.
"This war has utterly reshaped the global military and trade alliances, and the sanctions that followed have as well," he continued.
"And in total, they have upended the world economy. The post-World War 2 economic order, the system that guaranteed prosperity in the West for more than 80 years, is coming apart very fast, and along with it, the dominance of the US dollar.
"These are not small changes. They are history-altering developments.
"They will define the lives of our grandchildren. Most of the world understands this perfectly well. They can see it.
"Ask anyone in Asia or the Middle East what the future looks like. And yet the populations of the English-speaking countries seem mostly unaware.
"They think that nothing has really changed. And they think that
because no one has told them the truth."
Carlson went on to call Western media outlets "corrupt" and accused them of lying to their readers and viewers.
He revealed he and his team have requested to do an interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, adding they're awaiting his approval.
Both the Kremlin and Carlson had remained silent on the potential interview after he was pictured entering the presidential building in Moscow with a film crew.
