Elon Musk says he is stepping down from the Trump administration
Elon Musk says his role in the Trump administration is coming to an end.
The billionaire thanked US President Donald Trump - and said he was stepping down as his "scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end".
The Tesla owner - who led the Department of Government Efficiency - said he was thankful "for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending".
"The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government," Musk wrote on X.
It comes one day after Mr Musk criticised the centrepiece of Mr Trump's legislative agenda, saying he was "disappointed" by what the president calls his "big beautiful bill".
