India v England: One-off women’s Test, day one – live

Anyone up for a bit of history? It’s been nine years since India – the centre of the world game – last hosted a women’s Test match, 18 since England made the trip over for a long-form hit. The lack of red-ball women’s cricket makes these one-off affairs feel ever more important and rather special – but it’d be nice if it became a more regular part of the system: we saw a cracker in the Ashes earlier this year, and the good news is that India will take on Australia themselves next week. Like buses and all that, as Raf Nicholson put it in this fantastic piece.

Anywho, first up it’s England at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai, and there’s a bit of anxiety in the air as the visitors step into the unknown. Play begins at 4am GMT and my word am I anxious too – I haven’t had much sleep, which is always great when you’re about to roll out a live blog for the entire world to read. Wish me luck and, as ever, keep me company. Send in your thoughts, queries, late-night song requests, advice on how to resolve my love-life woes, film reviews (I watched Wonka the other day – a pleasant surprise), whatever you fancy. Cheers!
