CAN'T MAKE IT UP

Redditor Indecisivelibra01 has shared their secret for getting better-cleaned brushes.

"I have a weird process for washing my brushes. It’s strange but effective," they said.

Before you judged, they wanted you to keep an open mind.

"Washing them in the shower, especially when waiting for conditioners and masks to sink into my hair for five minutes," they said.

"Essentially, the hot water, being in a place of cleansing, and having nothing else to do during that time while letting my hair products work, is what has been working for me for months now," they added.

NO PAIN PRO TIP

They explained how it also prevented unnecessary pain.

"I also hate leaning over the sink to wash brushes for ages," they said.

"Feels more mundane and my back ends up hurting."

Instead, they have a bar soap designated "specifically" for washing their brushes.

They simply swirl them onto the bar a few times before washing them through with their hands.

Just make sure they've been "fully saturated" by the water.

DRY FASTER

They also had another pro tip.

"Then, this is niche, but after squeezing out the excess water after rinsing them, I place the clean brushes into a swimming towel I have which has a little pouch built into it (made of the towel) to literally pack the towel into itself," they said.

"It’s odd, but the towel pouch completely covering the brushes really helps to expedite drying time," they added.

Those who could relate to the pain of painstakingly cleaning their brushes were no doubt thankful for the tip.

"It makes me feel like an octogenarian, my back aching from literally standing," said a user.

"Yes, the back aches from leaning over the sink! I didn’t mention it in my post as I thought that was just me. I feel so seen!" they replied.

Dirty makeup brushes can become a "breeding ground" for bacteria, according to the American Academy of Dermatology.
