BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent reveals poignant truth behind joining Strictly Christmas special after split from husband
BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent has revealed the poignant truth behind joining the Strictly Christmas special after her marriage split.
Sally, 52, was one of the first three celebrities confirmed for the 2023 Strictly Christmas Special on Wednesday.
Sally has been partnered with Graziano Di Prima for the festive treat, and shared snaps of them together on the Strictly set after she was revealed on spin-off show, It Takes Two.
As they posed on the stairs on set, Sally captioned the happy shots: "I was in need of a little pick me up when the lovely people at Strictly called.
"They kindly suggested I might like to learn to dance with @grazianodiprima in time for Christmas.
"I am definitely not a dancer - but I will try my best. And there is no one better to learn with."

She concluded: "Join us on our Christmas adventure and I guarantee that we will all have fun along the way. Ciao."
Sally has had a tough few months, after her marriage split from husband Gavin Hawthorn was revealed in May.
The couple had been married for 13 years and share a teenage son.
Despite the split reportedly being "amicable", reports at the time claimed Sally was "devastated".
Meanwhile, the other two celebrities confirmed for the Christmas Special were historian Dan Snow and EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick.
The remaining three celebrities will be announced later today.
BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
