I’m a nursery worker & used to judge parents for 6 things before I fell pregnant – I was so naive but now I get it

THEY say you should never judge anyone until you walk a step in their shoes - and that's something one nursery worker found out only too well.

Leana, who is a nursery practitioner, has revealed the six things she used to judge parents for before becoming a mum herself.

"I'm a mum-of-two now but for a job I'm a nursery practitioner, so I thought it'd be funny to tell you what I used to judge parents for before I became a mum," she explains, in a clip shared to TikTok (@lelejt).

"Little disclaimer - please don't get annoyed at me because obviously I was very naive to being a parent but now I get it...mums, dads…I get it!"

She begins by revealing that she used to question why parents would send their child into nursery when they're not working.

"I get it now. You need a break!" she says.

Next, Leana shares another occurrence when she used to judge mums and dads.

"Why are you sending your child in when they've got a cold - like a little sniffle," she'd previously ask.

After realising the reality since having kids herself, she answers her own question and notes: "Because they always have a little sniffle and if we kept them off every time they had a bit of a cold, they'd never be in nursery."

The mum-of-two also says she never understood when mums and dads would say to their little ones: "Come on, get in the car quick, I've got chocolate in the car."

She admits back in the day she would've thought to herself: "Why are you bribing your child with chocolate - that's not healthy!"

However, she admits that she now totally understands it and does the same.

Sharing another past judgement, she recalls how a mum once told her: "Ah here's little Jackie...she's not had breakfast yet…"

I’m a nursery worker & there’s 5 things parents do that really annoy me - don’t hit me with questions at a certain time

Previously, Leana confesses she would've thought: "It's 8am why haven't you given your child breakfast yet?"

However, now she notes: "I get it! I mean, sometimes Fred will have breakfast here and then he'll go to pre-school, but sometimes he just won't and it's just because the morning has been chaotic."

Leana admits she was also left baffled when one parent told her she forgot her son's shoes.

"How have you forgot your child's shoes - would you forget your own shoes?" she says she previously would've thought.

But since becoming a mum, she admits: "Well, I've done that! I forgot Fred's shoes once because he wasn't putting them on and I just forgot to put them in the bag...yeah, bad mum!"

And last but not least, she explains how she'd always judge any parents who didn't arrive to pick their child up until 5 to 6.

Realising the reality, Leana says: "She's probably just having a little break, a cup of tea before it shuts - enjoying that last five minutes."

The nursery worker captioned the post: "Honestly until you become a parent you have absolutely NO idea ahahaha - bringing your kids in on your day off???? Am all for it!"

It wasn't long before the post went viral, garnering thousands of views and several comments from parents and other nursery workers, who were all left amused by the reality of Leana's confessions.

"Sending kids to nursery when you're off work is peak life," wrote one.

Leana replied: "I’m on maternity leave and my 3 year old still goes to pre-school 3 days a week it’s bliss!"

A second penned: "Iget sending them to nursery when parents aren’t working they need their rest but when they still send them in KNOWING they are unwell and they are off work..immediately no."

Leanea responded: "oh yes of course there are just things that are an absolute ‘wtf are you doing.’"

A third commented: "LOL relatable!!! I’m a nursery nursery with a 9m old (back to work next week). I’m like OK, I get it now!"

Another added: "This!!! So true! Didn’t understand until I was a mum."
