Dedicated viewers have reflected on the 2023 series in a thread on Reddit and insisted Couple's Choice week should be axed.

Writing in a discussion forum, one Strictly viewer said: "Between Annabel and Bobby's Couple's Choice dances I'm personally not a fan of Strictly showcasing grief.

"But clearly they are a vote winner, so I expect they will be seeking out more celebrities with passed loved ones in future."

Another viewer said: " Like others have written it's time to bench Couple's Choice."

One more agreed: "Kill Couple’s Choice with fire. Put the ashes in a locked box and drop it into the Mariana Trench."

And a fourth echoed: "Another vote for binning Couples Choice - either too mawkish or too frenetic."

Annabel's husband Mel tragically passed away in May just eight weeks after being diagnosed with stage three stomach cancer.

He was just 60 years old at the time of his death.

Last month Annabel and pro partner Johannes Radebe performed an interpretive dance to the song Wings by Birdy for their Couple's Choice to in tribute to Mel.

Bobby and pro partner Dianne Buswell danced his Couple's Choice routine tonight to Maxwell's track This Woman's Work, saying his dad used to play it when he was a child after his mum Jade Goody passed away.

Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola won Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.

Following the final, viewers begged for another show shake-up and said one element was missing.
