Designer Cara Newhart (@caranewhart) is a fan of all things DIY when it has to do with home renovations.

She showed how she transformed her backyard in a TikTok video and gave it a complete makeover using a Home Depot buy.

The New Jersey resident added Lifeproof with Petproof Technology turf, so she can have the perfect lawn that’s also pet-friendly.

According to the Home Depot website, it is made with high-performance yarn construction to look and feel just like real grass.

It's also durable against dog diggings and drains twice as fast as "so liquid waste passes through and will not puddle."

"You're going to need some of these to achieve your dream of never having to mow again," she said.

Before she laid it down, she first tilled the ground and removed all of the roots underneath.

Then, she marked off the area where she wanted to put the turf with spray paint.

Cara joked that the hardest part of the application process was getting it out of her car, but she had a unique method to get it done.

"You just roll it out just like a rug. Let it sit in the sun a little bit to acclimate, and then use giant nails to secure it in place," she explained.

It was really easy to cut through with either scissors or a box knife before she used giant nails, landscape staples, and sandy green infill to hold it down.

The before and after transformation of the outdoor garden was "wild" to her and she was in disbelief that she did it all herself.

Although she loved how it turned out, many viewers didn't think it was an eco-friendly choice and thought it would do more harm than good.

"It looks beautiful but it will release so many toxins when it gets hot. and not safe for pet paws. Maybe eventually some clover," one commented.

"For your pets, you need to know that in the heat turf gets extremely hot compared to natural grass. Looks great," another advised.

"Just wait until you see how much hotter that gets than grass," a TikTok user wrote.
