My house is 130 years old & it’s -26 outside – my family’s unusual sleeping method & essential £3 buy to keep warm
STRUGGLING with the freezing cold temperatures in the UK at the moment?
One woman has shared how she and her family kept warm in -26 degrees temperatures.
Maddy Wisecup lives with her family of 6 in Iowa, USA, where temperatures have been blisteringly cold in recent days.
In a video posted to her TikTok account @maddywisecup, she explained what her family does to stay toasty in their 130 year old house.
Maddy explained that their old house is not insulated well enough to keep out the the -26 degrees celsius (-16 degrees fahrenheit) temperatures.
Because of this, her whole family has been having to sleep snuggled up on the sofa together to prevent themselves from freezing.

The mum shared video clips of her husband, Tyler and adorable children covered in layers and layers of blankets and cuddled up close to each other so that their body heat kept each other warm.
She added that she has been making her Great Pyrenees dogs sleep inside at night as well, despite the fact that they love the cold temperatures.
The next day, Maddy and her husband dropped their kids off at their grandparents house, as their heating is much better, so the children could get nice and cosy.
They then headed drove their car through mountains of snow to get into to town to pick up some essentials.
The couple's main priority was to get some plastic to insulate their windows.
Putting plastic film over your windows is a great way to reduce drafts and to make your home feel warm during the winter.
It is also a good way of reducing condensation.
Whats more, you can buy plastic window film for as little as £3 on Amazon, so if you're feeling the pinch this winter, this is a fab way of reducing heating bills without feeling the pinch.
After struggling through the snow to get back home the couple spent the afternoon putting the plastic film on every window of the house.
The freezing couple were decked out in plenty of layers and were even sporting woolly hats inside the house to keep warm.
However, as the plastic started to work, the house warmed up nicely, and Maddy's bobble hat came off.
She said: "Things are starting to warm up here.
I'm really looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight and not on the couch.
"Now we have a good temperature throughout the house.
"So we can all get a good night's sleep".
Many people are sure to have been left openmouthed by the video, as it has racked up an impressive 4.9 million views in just a few days.
TikTok users raced to the video's comments section to share their thoughts on Maddy's video.
One user said: "It’s amazing how well the plastic works on windows.
"I put some on ours last night and I am amazed how much warmer it is. Stay warm!"
