The council refused to give us a new kitchen so we revamped the old one with Facebook bargains & now it looks ‘banging’

A CRAFTY mum has shared how she gave her old kitchen a brand new look after the council refused to help the family.

According to Laureen Keeble, a mum to two loving boys, she had approached the local authorities after realising the kitchen in the property was in a dire need of a makeover.

However, after the council insisted it wouldn't be possible to give them a ''new kitchen'', Lauren didn't give up on the idea - and instead, decided to take matters in her own hands and revamped the existing room.

According to the DIY fanatic, the kitchen was renovated ''on a budget'', with the family getting their hands on bargains from Facebook Marketplace.

After removing the outdated furniture and set-up, the craft enthusiast replaced it with a second-hand kitchen corner that cost her just £250.

To give them a more unique and modern feel, Lauren also sanded the surface and painted the cupboards in a neutral sage colour.

The flooring, too, the video revealed, had a makeover and now boasted a sleek design with grey toned wood.

As well as swapping the old white fridge for a brand new chic one, Lauren decided to add a few blue LED lights by the bottom of the cupboards, which people said they ''loved''.

The stunning kitchen now also featured a show-stopper of a mirror by the entrance, giving the illusion of a larger space, as the light reflected from it.

The total costs, she reckoned, came to around £1,000 - more than £30k cheaper than the average total of a kitchen renovation in the UK, according to Check a Trade.

Since being shared on the platform, where Lauren posts under the username @laurenkeeble08, the video has won her more than 380k viewers and dozens of fans.

One fellow DIY enthusiast praised the savvy mum, writing: ''This looks amazing! Well done.''

Another chimed in: ''Good for you. Took me years to get my housing association to finally do my kitchen.

''Was done back in July. Don't have the patience to do it myself.''

Someone else wrote: ''Looks great such a transformation.''

''Love the led lights,'' a forth penned, whilst another added: ''Looks absolutely banging.''

''Looks absolutely stunning. well done,'' a social media user couldn't believe the difference between the Before and After snaps.
