Everyone can see the tree, but you have 20/20 vision if you can spot the gecko hiding in it in under 10 seconds
EXCERCISING your brain is as important as a full-body workout.
This optical illusion game is certainly going to challenge your grey matter.
But remember, that's a good thing and should be encouraged.
Your task is to spot the gecko hiding in the tree.
You have to complete the mission in under ten seconds.
If you are successful, then you have 20/20 vision and a high level of visual acuity indeed.
But it's only fair to mention that this is a fiendishly tricky quest.
The exotic amphibian is almost impossible to see.
He was captured on camera by a keen-eyed photographer.
The setting is a wildlife reserve in Madagascar, an island off the south-eastern coast of Africa.
Zoologically, this cute guy is the uroplatus fimbriatus, or the leaf-tailed gecko.
They are nocturnal, forest-dwelling lizards endemic to this island and others in the Indian Ocean.
Their bodies are long and flattened and are known for their leaf-like tails.
It should be no surprise to learn that their camouflage is beyond compare.
This ability to blend seamlessly into the background makes this task very hard.
This cute gecko is resting on the bark of a tree, but can you work out where?
Optical illusions benefits
Researchers have developed many tests to show how various brain regions react to optical illusions.
- They are not only entertaining, but they also shed light on how our brains interpret visual data
- By giving your brain a little workout regularly, you enhance your ability to focus and observe details
- Studies have shown people who regularly challenge themselves with optical illusions and puzzles see big improvements in their problem-solving skills, concentration, and attention
- Improved concentration and attention span, in turn, can help prevent cognitive decline in older age
- Psychologists at The University of Glasgow found that starting at an optical illusion can improve eyesight by allowing you to see small print
