BBC confirms return of beloved detective series 11 years on from first ever episode
THE BBC has confirmed the return of a beloved detective series 11 years on from first ever episode.
Having graced our screens for more than a decade, the crime show made its debut in 2013.
Now, fans will be happy to know that, Father Brown is set to return to screens for a twelfth series on BBC One on January 5, next year.
Mark Williams will reprise the title role of Father Brown.
In the latest episode of the current series, the priest looks into a murder case at the Kembleston Olimpicks where things get intense between rivals.
Mrs. Devine is surprised by her son Eddie's sudden return to Kembleford.

While details about the upcoming episodes are being kept secret for now, the previous season concluded with Inspector Sullivan (played by Tom Chambers) popping the question to Mrs. Devine (portrayed by Claudie Blakley).
With her joyful acceptance, season might kick off with a wedding celebration.
The show is has been watched in 150 countries and is the most popular BBC programme in both Sweden and Norway.
The series is based on the short stories by G.K Chesterton.
It follows a Catholic priest with a keen eye and a spirit for sleuthing who helps to solve crimes in the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford.
Father Brown's church, St. Mary's, is actually the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Blockley.
The hit BBC show based on the GK Chesterton character is set in the Cotswolds.
The show is filmed in the picturesque area as well as several locations across the Midlands.
These include the Cotswold village of Blockley and Worcestershire city Worcester.
Father Brown season 12 will air on BBC One, Friday 5th January 2025
