The TV favourite said: "I don’t know if there is going to be a series three, I’m nothing if not an optimist but I do not know. But yes [I’d would to return if there was another series]."

Emmett has a long list of successful dramas under his belt, from The Tower, to Gangs of London and The Deceived.

But it was Peaky Blinders that threw the star into the spotlight.

Emmett starred in the fifth series playing traitor Billy Grade, with his character being shot dead by Duke Shelby for betraying the Peaky Blinders.

Emmett praised co-star and leading man Cillian Murphy on and off set - and admitted he'd jump at the chance to work with him again.

"Cillian is one of the all time greats, he’s very professional, very humble and very welcoming human being. Very warm and embracing. I can’t speak highly enough about him," Emmett said.

When asked if he'd ever team up with Cillian on another TV project, Emmett simply replied: “I mean, you’d always work with Cillian.”

In 2024, the actor had a leading role in Netflix's critically acclaimed show, Fool Me Once where he played opposite Michelle Keegan.

Speaking about the incredible fan reaction it received, Emmett said: “I was pleasantly surprised, it’s Harlan Coben, it’s Nicola Shindler, it’s Quay Street Productions – it’s all these pieces of a puzzle, these are people that are top of their game, they know how to make stories and know how to make content and how to make really interesting high end stories speak viewers and incredible stories.

"In a way I was surprised by how many people had seen it, but not surprised if that makes sense because they’re so talented.".

He admitted it was a privilege working with Michelle Keegan on the eight-part series.

Emmett shared: "Getting to play on that and the response it got was staggering, humbling, I got to play with Michelle Keegan who is one of the most down to earth beautiful human beings inside and out, it was a lovely time.”

When asked if Netflix the way forward for him, Emmett joked: “As long as I’m cast, I’m happy.”

The star currently has his hands full with a number of TV and film projects, including a Paramount series called The Fixer.

He told us: "I’m doing a new series called The Fixer and that’s on Paramount, it’s brilliant – the writers are amazing, the cast are stacked the directors are in a different league, so I’m really excited about that.

"And The Working Man is a Jason Statham movie and that comes out on the 28th March.”

Kin to return?

During a stint on This Morning last September, Emmett hinted at ongoing negotiations for the third season of the drama.

When show hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard asked about the future of the show, he shared: "I don't know if there's going to be a season three, it hasn't been green lit yet.

"There is a little bit of a, I don't know if I'm stepping out of line when I say this, but there's maybe even a bidding war. There is a lot of interest."

The actor's comments have fueled speculation that major networks or streaming platforms may be vying for the rights to continue the hit series, following its strong performance on both the BBC and Netflix.
