"How I spend less than $2 on almost two months' worth of laundry detergent," said Kristi Umbach (@kristiumbach714).

Standing in the aisle of a Walmart with her husband and kids in tow, she found the magic product: a Zote bar.

"I just wanted to show you guys how inexpensive it actually is and you can see for yourself."

She explained how three bars - each priced at less than $2 - lasted her five months.

Once she was back at home, Kristi gave a demonstration of her detergent deal.

"I cut up one or two bars at a time," she explained as she opened up the crock she kept them in.

Using vinegar as her softener, she typically takes seven or eight pieces and adds them to her vinegar jug.

Kristi followed this up with just two easy steps.

"I will add water and I will shake it each time before I use it," she said.

She then adds it directly into the drum with the laundry.

The mom also explained how she uses the dispenser with the vinegar, but not with her detergent mixture.

The $1.62 Zote soap from Walmart had hundreds of five-star reviews that praise the product for its versatility.

"Great for makeup brushes, and shaved into laundry detergent," wrote one satisfied buyer.

"Not just for white clothes. It really does remove stains. Although you have to scrub the soap against the clothing. It's a cheaper alternative to spray stain removers that cost a lot more," another explained.

With so many washes under her belt, she fancied herself a pro - and this was her favorite trick so far.

"I am completely satisfied with the cleaning power and I do a lot of laundry here."

Her fans expressed their gratitude for the money-saving method.

"Thank you for sharing," said one enthused follower.

Yet others who were already in on the secret swore also by the magic bars.

"I used to get berry stains out with the Zote bar - it’s my go-to stain remover. I just rub it on the stains and scrub with a dish brush," said one such follower.

Kristi, who prefers to stay away from chemicals as much as possible, explained that she uses Borax as a booster very rarely and only when needed.

Her other tips include swapping out Windex for ammonia water and soaking your citrus scraps in vinegar for a healthier disinfectant.
