Rapper Tory Lanez who shot Megan Thee Stallion ‘stabbed 14 times’ in attack by inmate while serving 10 years in prison
RAPPER Tory Lanez has been attacked in prison, leaving him with 14 stab wounds and two collapsed lungs, according to his social media.
Lanez, real name Daystar Peterson, said he is "deeply thankful" to have survived the attack by another inmate.
A post to his social media account said that Lanez had been knifed on his back, torso, head and face.
It added that "both of his lungs collapsed, and he was placed on a breathing apparatus" but that he is "now breathing on his own".
According to the post, “Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”
His injuries understood to be severe but not life-threatening.
The rapper was reportedly attacked at a housing unit at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi at about 7:20 a.m.
Pedro Calderon Michel, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, said staff dashed to the scene, did what they could to help and called 911.
Lanez was then rushed to an outside hospital om Bakersfield for further treatment, reports TMZ.
Michel added that the stabbing was being investigated by the prison itself as well as the Kern County District Attorney’s Office.
Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in July of 2020.
He was found guilty of assault and two gun charges at trial in December 2022.
Megan Thee Stallion testified against Lanez during the trial, saying she left a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home along with Lanez.
She told the court that Lanez fired a gun at her heels and ordered her to dance after they argued and she jumped out of the car.
Lanez has always sworn he is innocence, and his lawyers appealed his conviction.
A judge denied a motion for him to receive a new trial in May 2023.
