Arsenal news LIVE: Victor Osimhen transfer TWIST, Aaron Ramsdale future latest, Douglas Luiz updates

  • Arsenal in talks to sign defender

Arsenal are in talks to sign defender Radu Dragusin, according to his agent.

However, two more top Premier League clubs are also in discussions with the centre-back's representatives.

Dragusin's agent, Florin Manea, said: "I have been in London for some time and have almost weekly meetings with important teams.

"We are getting closer. I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham.

  • Luiz top of the wishlist

Fabrizio Romano claims that Douglas Luiz is top of Arsenal's transfer wishlist for January.

The midfielder notched an assist as Villa beat Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yesterday.

Aston Villa are dead against selling the midfielder, however.

  • Arsenal face Osimhen competition

Arsenal are facing competition from Chelsea for the signing of Napoli's Victor Osimhen.

The forward excelled in the Serie A last season as Napoli romped to a league title.

He tops Arsenal's wish list alongside Ivan Toney but Todd Boehly is said to be incredibly keen on the Nigerian striker.

  • Arsenal calendar table

Here is a look at the league table for the calendar year.

Arsenal are sat in second, 11 points behind City who reeled them in from January onwards in the title race last year.

Arsenal's former manager Unai Emery has Villa sitting level with the Gunners in second.

  • Arsenal reject Ramsdale approach

Arsenal have rejected an approach from a bottom-half team to purchase Aaron Ramsdale in January, according to reports.

Football London report that Arsenal are not interested in selling their backup keeper in January.

  • Gunner try and get him

Arsenal and Manchester City are among a host of Europe's elite teams keeping an eye on 15-year-old wonderkid Tristan Aldcroft Panduro, according to reports.

The midfielder captains Denmark's Under-16s and had scouts raving about his performances at a tournament they won last week.

Panduro is currently with Denmark but is eligible to play for England through his mum.

And the Daily Mail suggest the Copenhagen youngster is expected to leave the club to join a bigger team.

  • 'Get over the line'

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "I love him [Arteta]. I love his passion and enthusiasm. I’ve always said he’s a little bit inexperienced and perhaps needs to draw on someone in his staff who is a little more experienced.

“I’m talking about going across the line last season. We all make mistakes and aren’t perfect. He perhaps didn’t rotate players early enough last season.

"People were running out of steam, like Bukayo Saka. I think he’s doing great. Last year, weirdly if Unai Emery was our manager then we could have perhaps won the league.

“I know he didn’t stick around and following Arsene Wenger was difficult, a bit like George Graham being followed by Bruce Rioch.

“I think he missed a few bits last season to get us over the line.”

  • Gunner have regrets

Tony Adams reckons Arsenal would have won the Premier League last season... if Unai Emery was in charge.

Emery's successor at the Emirates Mikel Arteta saw his side finish second, running out of steam against the title-winning Manchester City machine.

But Adams thinks it could have been very different if the Aston Villa boss was in North London.

  • Petr believe it

Former Arsenal goalkeeper has gone from between the sticks to using the stick in his new role.

The Premier League legend made his professional ice hockey debut at the tender age of 41.

Cech joined Elite Ice Hockey League champions Belfast Giants this month and came on for five minutes in Saturday's 5-1 win over Glasgow Clan.

The veteran Czech made a fine save to help his side to victory.

  • How the rest of 2023 shapes up

There are no more international breaks until March, whoop whoop!

So that gives Mikel Arteta a consistent run of matches to keep his side challenging for the title - as well as their European campaign.

Here are Arsenal's remaining fixtures in 2023:

    • 29/11 - Lens (h) - CL
    • 02/12 - Wolves (h) - PL
    • 05/12 - Luton (a) - PL
    • 09/12 - Aston Villa (a) - PL
    • 12/12 - PSV (a) - CL
    • 17/12 - Brighton (h) - PL
    • 23/12 - Liverpool (a) - PL
    • 28/12 - West Ham (h) - PL
    • 31/12 - Fulham (a) - PL
  • Super bad news for Arsenal

A supercomputer has had its say on how the Premier League table will finish...

And it does not bode well for Arsenal.

The number-cruncher has the Gunners down to finish second again - pipped to the title by Manchester City just like last season.

  • Gunners gone top

Arsenal capitalised on the draw between Manchester City and Liverpool to leapfrog the pair into top spot.

Arteta's side have nine wins, three draws and one defeat this season.

That sees them sitting pretty on 30 points - one ahead of City and two clear of Liverpool and Aston Villa who complete the top four.

  • Arteta on Aaron

Arteta said: "This is football, I’m so happy with the team with the way team performed, we kept a clean sheet and we move on. I’m so happy.

"Courage, he has big courage and big personality, and that’s why we love him.

"It’s a joy as a manager to watch the players' reaction. You’ve got the players looking out for each other, encouraging each other, showing love to each other, it doesn’t get any better than that.

"I’m so happy and I couldn’t be prouder."

  • All eyes on Aaron

Aaron Ramsdale was back in the Arsenal starting XI for the trip to Brentford.

Ramsdale was replaced by David Raya this summer when the Spaniard arrived on loan from the Bees.

But with Raya ineligible to face his parent club, the Englishman stepped back into the side.

He kept a clean sheet but escaped an almighty early blunder thanks to Declan Rice's goal-line clearance.

And his team-mates celebrated with him at the full-time whistle.

  • Double ton up

Saturday's trip to Brentford was Mikel Arteta's 200th game in charge of Arsenal after taking over in 2019.

He has 116 wins, 34 draws and 50 defeats - more victories than any of the nine other Gunners bosses to reach the landmark milestone.

  • Havertz has his say

And Kai Havertz was clearly delighted with his decisive impact.

He said: “The ball was perfect. That's something we also trained a lot in training and I thought maybe I go there, so hopefully the ball arrives and it arrived perfect so I'm happy to score.

"I worked quite hard to get these moments again and today, I got it so I’m very, very happy.

“We came here to win and it’s a very good feeling to go home with three points."

  • 'So happy'

Here's what Mikel Arteta had to say...

"When things come easy, you don’t value them. If things would have come easier today, he’s [probably] not getting the reception that he got - everybody hugging him and cuddling him, and telling him how much we love him.

"It’s because of the way he behaves in difficult moments and he’s an example for all of us to do what you have to do when you have difficulties.

"He’s a great example for the team, and we cannot be happier that a big player like him wins the game for the team.

"Against this block, and against teams that defend the box like this, you need this type of profile, and he’s exceptional at that. Today he won the game in that action for us."

  • Hav a big impact

Kai Havertz got plenty of praise from his manager after securing the late victory at Brentford.

That was the German's first Arsenal goal from open play since his £65m move from Chelsea.

Havertz's header at the back post squeezed past Mark Flekken to earn the Gunners all three points.

  • Vlahovic snub

Dusan Vlahovic is set to snub interest from Arsenal and Man Utd.

The Juventus striker has long been suggested as a target for the Premier League giants.

Instead he could sign a new deal with the Serie A side, according to Teamtalk.

His current contract expires in 2026.

  • Toney could be available

Brentford sporting director Phil Giles has not ruled out the club selling Ivan Toney.

He said: "I've never had one phone call in three-and-a-half years about Ivan Toney, in terms of interest in buying him. My job is really easy because I get on with the day-to-day.

"I have a lot to do and spend less time worrying about Ivan’s situation than others. With Thomas [Frank], it’s [the case of] getting him ready, getting him fit, getting him some practice games in and then the expectation is he’ll come back in the team. If my phone rings between now and then, I’ll see what’s happening. But I’m really not focused on that at all."

  • Osimhen rival

Chelsea are set to rival Arsenal for the signature of Victor Osimhen, according to reports.

The Gunners are believed to have made the Napoli striker a priority transfer target.

However, the Telegraph claim Chelsea have done the same.

It is believed Osimhen would cost in excess of £100million.

  • Luiz rival

Man City could bring back Douglas Luiz to the Etihad and rival Arsenal for his signature.

The Brazilian has been described as the Gunners priority signing in the January transfer window.

However, Teamtalk claim Pep Guardiola may want to add the midfielder's steel to his side.

  • Arsenal star deletes Instagram

A forgotten Arsenal star has deleted his social media account after being dropped from the matchday squad yesterday.

Portuguese left-back Nuno Tavares arrived from Benfica back in 2021 for £7million.

Tavares failed to convince boss Mikel Arteta of his capabilities during pre-season and he headed to Nottingham Forest for what is supposed to be a season-long loan on deadline day.

The Portugal U21 international has struggled at City Ground and has so far only started once and come off the bench twice for them in the Premier League.

Yesterday boss Steve Cooper left him out of the squad completely for Forest’s 3-2 home defeat to Brighton.

And Tavares has reacted to that Forest snub by deleting his Instagram account.
