Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s fortune drops by £6BILLION as he’s biggest faller in Sunday Times Rich List

MANCHESTER UNITED minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe saw his fortune drop by £6BILLION in the Sunday Times Rich List.

The petrochemicals billionaire was the biggest loser on the list's top ten this year.

Ratcliffe, 71, was second and worth just shy of £30bn in the 2023 list.

However, this year he has fallen down to fourth in the overall list.

But he still has a handsome net worth of £23.519bn.

He saw his Ineos company complete the purchase of a 27.7 per cent stake worth £1.03bn in Man Utd in February, which saw them take sporting control of the club.

The latest financial estimates have placed the Red Devils as the most valuable football club in the world at £4.9bn.

Ratcliffe's plans for the club will take time to bear fruit, with plans to overhaul both the team and stadium - possibly featuring a "Wembley of the north" - in the coming years.

His company also owns Ligue 1 outfit Nice, Swiss club Lausanne-Sport and an incredibly successful cycling team that have won seven Tour de France titles.

Ineos are also a one-third shareholder in the Mercedes F1 team.

Another affiliated party to the Silver Arrows is seven-time F1 world champion Sir Lewis Hamilton.

The 39-year-old saw his wealth grow to £350million in 2024, which saw him get on to the bottom of the top 350 richest Brits.

Hamilton also tops the list for sport stars and is ninth on the 40 Under 40 rich list, ahead of the likes of Rory McIlroy, Anthony Joshua and Sir Andy Murray.
