Dominique, 72, made the statement during a four-hour grilling by magistrates on Thursday about two notorious cold cases.

One was the murderof Sophie Narme, a 23-year-old estate agent, who died in Paris in 1991.

The other was the attempted rape of another estate agent identified as Marion, 18, who was attacked in the same area in 1999.

The woman was showing him a flat when she claims he knocked her out with chemicals in the same way.

Beatrice Zavarro, Dominique's lawyer, said: "He answered all the questions – cooperating like he always does."

About the murder, the sick serial rapist declared: "I have nothing to do with this affair."
