‘What happened to the prices?’ Primark shoppers are ‘going to M&S’ instead for PJs that are cheaper and ‘better quality’

NIPPING into Primark and getting a new pair of pyjamas used to be an essential part of any shopping trip.

Some shoppers, however, are no longer getting their sleepwear at the high street giant after being shocked by the price tags.

One unhappy customer has even taken to Tiktok after becoming frustrated with the fashion brand’s pricing.

Posting the clip under the username @locoify, the content creator was shocked at how much a classic roll neck jumper cost.

Zooming into the pricetag, she revealed that the simple grey jumper cost a staggering £19.

This is despite the item being mostly made from recycled polyester.

Walking around the shop floor, the mum showed off other items including a semi sheer cream cardigan which was priced at £15.

Even the outwear didn’t seem to impress, with a pink tartan coat, made from recyclable materials, that cost £30.

In the caption, she complained: “What happened to the prices??? Don’t dare tell me its better quality, [as] it’s certainly not the case.”

Viewers had similar responses, with many stating that they’d had similar experiences when looking at sleepwear.

“£15 for pyjamas bottoms and £12 for the matching top,” moaned one customer, adding: “I remember getting a set for £6 couple years ago.”

Some even admitted that they’d switched to Marks and Spencer, after being disappointed by what was on offer at Primark.

“Went into Primark looking for pyjamas they are the same price as M&S, so just for quality obviously I bought M&S pyjamas,” argued another.

To which, @locoify replied: “I know…pj's are over 40 quid that's insane…I really don't know what is going on”

Though Primark still has polyester pjs for £8 on it's website, it's rival has cotton rich sets for as little as £12.50.

As the video continued to gain views, others questioned why prices varied so much between branches.

Shocked by the prices shown, she wrote: "Weird, cause all the shops in Glasgow none of their pyjamas are £40. They range from £3.50 to £8 to £15 at most, not £40."

Another revealed that they'd also gotten cheap pjs in their local Primark.

They commented: "The pjs I got was less than £10 so I don’t know what price you got there."

It's not the first time customers have been confused by Primark's pricing, with influencer Aaliyah Anderson also complaining about the cost of the viral velour set.

As her video trended online, Fabulous reached out to Primark for comment.

A spokesperson replied: “We work hard to offer the best value on the high street, something we know is more important than ever to our customers right now.
