The location in Trinity Square, Milton Street will shutter in a matter of days.

The electronics company confirmed the store will close its doors for the last time on February 1.

Customers were informed of the news by notices posted in the windows.

This is becoming an increasingly common sight in the area, according to shoppers.

One customer told Nottinghamshire Live: "It's sad to see another store closing down in Nottingham.

"There appears to be a news article each week referring to different shops going the same way."

The regular shopper put the closure down to an industry shift to online sales.

"I visited Currys quite often. Currys most recent ad campaign talks about seeing the items in real life and not online," they said.

"Sadly with this store closing it's likely if people want to purchase from Currys they may have to resort to going online."

According to the customer who loves in-store shopping, the soon-to-be-closed store is in "an ideal location" near the Victoria Centre.

"It really is sad to see this store close," they added.

Currys has not revealed why the store is closing but has confirmed that there is no danger of job losses for those working there.

A spokesperson for the retailer said: "We are working hard to ensure that all colleagues impacted have the option to be redeployed to our local stores."

After the closure on February 1, shoppers will have to go to the two other Currys branches in the city.

One is at the Castle Marina Retail Park and the other at Madford Retail Park in Daybrook.

These are the two locations where employees from the Trinity Square store will be redeployed.

Other recent closures in Nottingham include an iconic fashion retailer and a supermarket chain.

High street favourite Bonmarché closed its branch in Arnold, Nottingham, on September 22 last year due to soaring rents.

Shoppers slammed the move as a "big mistake" as it offered members of the local community an "essential service" for those with little mobility or who dislike online shopping.

Just a couple of months later, on November 16, the Co-op store in the Meadows shut its doors for good after being a mainstay in the Bridgeway Shopping Centre for more than 50 years.

No reason was given by the supermarket chain though they said it wa a "difficult decision" as locals called it a "huge loss."
