Man Utd transfer news LIVE: Luke Shaw ‘could miss rest of season’, Ratcliffe CONFIRMED as new owner, Greenwood price tag

  • Shaw likely to miss the rest of the season

Luke Shaw looks set to miss the rest of Manchester United's season after he suffered a recurrence of a leg injury which ruled him out of the majority of the first half of the season.

United now look light at left-back, with Tyrel Malacia also several weeks away from a return to the first-team.

United cancelled Sergio Reguilon's loan from Tottenham back in January, with the Spaniard then being loaned out from Spurs to Brentford.

Shaw faces an uphill battle to be fit for Euro 2024.

  • Shaw out for rest of season

Manchester United ace Luke Shaw may miss the rest of the season due to injury.

That leaves United manager Erik ten Hag without a recognised left-back.

  • Kobbie Mainoo advice

Manchester United hero Louis Saha insists Kobbie Mainoo needs to keep his feet on the ground.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

Kobbie Mainoo has the potential to be part of Manchester United’s future. To be a very important player in that squad already [at 18 years
old] is a great achievement for him but there’s still a long way to go to get the recognition.

We have to be careful about getting ahead of ourselves with Mainoo, it’s still only been a few games and there are things he can improve
on. But he’s done tremendously well, there’s no doubt about that.

There are players around him who give him the platform to play. Casemiro is very experienced, and Bruno Fernandes is too but most of the
front line are still young players and Mainoo has shown his maturity.

He’s got himself in a great position and I think he has the right entourage around him to keep his feet on the ground.

I heard that he’s got choices of going to parties but he's making the right decisions and staying at home and trying to stay very focused. He played well in pre-season but wasn’t able to show his quality in the squad until recently.

  • Mohamed Salah is 'underrated'

Manchester United hero Louis Saha insists Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is "underrated" as his contribution hasn't been truly acknowledged.

    Saha told Paddy Power:

Mo Salah has been a big servant to Liverpool, and he’s played his part.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s thinking about something else but he’s such an underrated player because of the quality he brings, not only to the Liverpool side but also to the Premier League.

It would be a shame to see him leave but he’s given so much to Liverpool that whatever he decides to do will be respected [by the club].

It’s an odd one – I hope he stays but I respect what he’s achieved in a Liverpool shirt.

  • Rasmus Hojlund brother's revelation

Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund's brother Oscar, who plays at Copnhagen, revealed he's better than him on PlayStation.

    Oscar told Tipsbladet:

We focus on our own things, but of course, we do everything we can to keep up with how each other is doing, and then we talk after the matches.

In fact, we talk daily as much as we can. We are quite close.

We try to exchange a lot of things and ask how each other is doing.

Then we also play a little PlayStation together, so it's fine. I would say I'm the best at playing PlayStation.

  • Wayne Rooney's new interest?

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney revealed his interest in the law did not go away after his wife's case as he applied to study the subject at university.

I did apply – it was to Nottingham University - I applied to go in and try and study, but then I did go away.

I want to do it to get one of those wigs on!

  • Rooney on wife's case

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney revealed the major role he played in his wife's case from 2019 when Coleen Rooney alleged Rebekah Vardy leaked stories about her private life to the press.

Vardy, who is married to Leicester legend Jamie Vardy, subsequently filed a libel lawsuit against Coleen and lost.

United's record goalscorer has now claimed he told his spouse's barrister the questions that should be asked.

Sometimes you've got to have a bit of fun with the media!

To be fair, it's something that I've always watched and looked at as well.

When Coleen had the court case with Rebekah Vardy, I was there with the barrister and the lawyers, and I was saying to the barrister, 'You need to ask this question'

  • Sancho's Champions League horror

Manchester United fans joked they “thought Erik ten Hag was the problem” after Jadon Sancho’s horror stats against PSV Eindhoven were revealed.

Sancho rejoined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January after falling out with United manager Erik ten Hag.

And the winger had a game to forget in last night’s Champions League last 16, first leg tie with PSV Eindhoven.

The England international failed to score or assist, while also failing to create one single chance from dangerous play - he also didn’t make a single dribble attempt.

And the 23-year-old lost possession of the ball 12 times while also laying on just two crosses.

Sancho had just a 71 per pass accuracy after 15 of his 21 passes found their intended target, and he also struggled defensively - winning just two of his seven duels.

  • Ratcliffe ownership rises

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Manchester United ownership will rise to 27.7 per cent.

That is due to the initial capital investment of $200million with the issue of new shares and then to 28.9per cent by December 31st after a further investment of $100m.

Ratcliffe had already taken charge of football operations at Old Trafford.

Sir Jim has not wasted time by making major appointments at the very top of United as well.

  • Joel Glazer statement

Manchester United executive co-chairman Joel Glazer said he was looking forward to a "bright future" now with Sir Jim Ratcliffe on board.

That was after Ratcliffe's 27.7 per cent takeover of United was officially confirmed.

I would like to welcome Sir Jim as co-owner and look forward to working closely with him and INEOS Sport to deliver a bright future for Manchester United.

  • Mbappe to Real Madrid

Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe is set to finally join Real Madrid in the summer.

According to transfer insider Guillem Balague, Mbappe will secure a world-record signing-on fee of about £128million after tax.

The 25-year-old will put pen to paper on a five-year contract worth £12.8m a year after tax.

The France international, who was linked with Manchester United, will be leaving PSG when his contract expires in June.

  • Sir Jim speaks

Sir Jim Ratcliffe declared his work to take Manchester United back to the top of English football starts now.

To become co-owner of Manchester United is a great honour and comes with great responsibility.

This marks the completion of the transaction, but just the beginning of our journey to take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football, with world-class facilities for our fans.

Work to achieve those objectives will accelerate from today.

  • Rooney Man City statement

Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has revealed he would "walk" to Manchester City to be Pep Guardiola's assistant manager.

It depends [on whether I’d ever be an assistant].

If Pep Guardiola comes in and asks me to be his assistant, you’d walk there!

But you see what [Mikel] Arteta is doing now and I strongly believe a lot of that is from learning what Guardiola was doing and so it depends on what the situation is.

  • Greenwood not coming back

Mason Greenwood will not come back to Manchester United at the end of his loan to Getafe.

According to Sport 1, Greenwood will look for another team in June following his legal troubles.

That was after United's six-month internal investigation over charges of attempted rape, assault and coercive control.

The charges were dropped but the Red Devils opted against having him in Erik ten Hag's squad this season.

The Manchester giants hope to get £34million for the forward ahead of a summer sale.

Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are both said to be interested in the ex-England international.

  • Michael Olise transfer war

Juventus are interested in landing Crystal Palace star Michael Olise in the summer.

Olise was the subject of a bid by Chelsea last year, while Manchester United have also shown interest ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Juve, however, believe that they may have found a way to overtake United in the race for the winger's signature.

According to the Telegraph, the Bianconeri may offer Matias Soule, who is on loan at Frosinone, in part-exchange for the Frenchman.

  • Sir Jim summer budget

Manchester United's first summer transfer budget under Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be severely limited due to Financial Fair Play restrictions.

And according to The Telegraph, United's purse could take an even bigger hit if manager Erik ten Hag fails to take them to the Champions League.

This comes amid news Ratcliffe's INEOS could surrender direct day-to-day involvement at Nice.

That is to remove the threat of the Red Devils or the French club missing out on European football next season due to Uefa's multi-club ownership rules.

  • Sir Jim Ratcliffe takeover

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has completed a deal to take over a minority stake at Manchester United.

Ratcliffe has finalised a 27.7 per cent takeover of United, worth about £1.2billion.

Sir Jim's INEOS will now take control of football operations at Old Trafford.

The company obtained approval last week from the FA as well as the Premier League following the completion of the owners' and directors' test (OADT).

  • Adrien Rabiot transfer war

Juventus ace Adrien Rabiot is attracting interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.

According to HITC, United are eyeing Rabiot ahead of the summer transfer window as his contract runs out in June.

However, Arsenal, Newcastle, Tottenham as well as Liverpool “are all keen on securing his services”.

Every Prem club, except for the Red Devils, have been in “contact” with the 28-year-old’s representatives “in recent months” and are eager to remain updated regarding his situation.

Bayern Munich are also in the running for the midfielder but Juve want to keep hold of the France international and are “working hard to try to convince” him to put pen to paper a new deal.

  • Man Utd 'secret weapon' targeted

Manchester United assistant coach Eric Ramsay has been offered the Minnesota United job.

Talks are progressing well with the new MLS season set to begin this weekend.

Ramsay, 31, will become the youngest ever manager in the American league's history should he join Minnesota.

The Loons finished 11th in the 14-team Western Conference last term and Cameron Knowles is currently in interim charge.

Losing the Welshman will be a huge blow for United as he has been referred to as the Red Devils' "secret weapon" and he is a vital part of manager Erik ten Hag's backroom staff.

  • Rasmus Hojlund advice

Manchester United star Rasmus Hojlund took advantage of Robin van Persie's recent visit to Carrington to get some advice.

According to the The Mail, Hojlund is said to have pulled up technical director Darren Fletcher to ask him to arrange a meeting with Van Persie, who was working on his coaching badges.

This chat is said to have lasted for half an hour, with United legend Rio Ferdinand later revealing some details about it on his FIVE YouTube channel.

Robin says he's asking a lot of questions, the sign of someone who wants to learn, a student.

It's nice that humility and humbleness to show. It bodes well for the future of this club.

  • Hannibal Mejbri loan blow

Manchester United ace Hannibal Mejbri is facing a "doomed" loan spell at Sevilla.

During his time in Spain, Hannibal has only been handed a scant number of minutes by manager Quique Sanchez Flores.

Sanchez Flores has played the midfielder on just three occasions off the bench in LaLiga and those rare appearances have seen his total time on the pitch come to just 36 minutes.

This has seen Spanish media start to question the loan transfer and the decision to not play the 21-year-old.

Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo claim that while the Tunisia international did well in one-minute cameo he was given against Valencia last weekend, his loan spell appears to be "doomed".

Hannibal reportedly fell out with Sanchez Flores less than two weeks after arriving at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

  • More on Ratcliffe takeover

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's takeover includes a further investment worth £238million into Manchester United's infrastructure.

As well as buying Class B shares held by the Glazer family, the announcement confirmed Ratcliffe would offer to acquire up to 25 per cent of all Class A shares at a price of £26 per share.

Sir Jim also has the first option to buy more Class B shares from the Glazers, should they decide to sell more.

The American family will be retaining a majority stake in the club.

Ratcliffe has completed a 27.7 per cent takeover of United worth about £1.2billion.

  • Financial Fair Play troubles?

Manchester United have been warned that they could be forced into a summer firesale because of Financial Fair Play restrictions.

Investor Sir Jim Ratcliffe could see his summer transfer budget hindered by United's past heavy spending in the market.

Over the last three summer transfer windows, the Red Devils have spent over £550million on new talent.

This expenditure has left the Manchester giants with little "financial headroom" as there has been little incoming from player sales.

Man Utd's summer budget could be further impacted should the club fail to finish in the top four and miss out on the £40m extra in prize money.
