Manchester City welcome Championship strugglers Plymouth Argyle to the Etihad for this weekend's FA Cup fifth-round showdown.

And it should in all likelihood be a straightforward evening's work for Pep Guardiola's side.

The Cityzens, who've won the competition seven times, suffered defeat in last year's final to arch-rivals Manchester United.

But given Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have all exited the tournament - they are short favourites at 6/4 to make amends and lift the trophy in May's finale.

Manchester City enter this clash in unusual circumstances given their success in recent years.

Pep's side are no longer in the Carabao Cup, the Champions League or the Premier League title race - leaving this competition as their only chance to salvage something from this disastrous campaign.

And they'll fancy their chances having clinched a morale-boosting away win over Spurs midweek, which strengthened their grip on a top-four finish.

They've also won their last 18 FA Cup games against sides from a lower division by an aggregate score of 69-9.

Having beaten Brentford and Liverpool in the third and fourth round of the FA Cup this season, Plymouth are looking to become the first team from outside the top-flight to eliminate Premier League opposition in three consecutive rounds since Wigan in 2017-18.

They arrive in Manchester following successive draws against Luton Town and Cardiff City but remain deeply entrenched in a relegation battle and three points from safety.

The Pilgrims have had 44 previous FA Cup ties against top-flight opponents, progressing from just four of these.

Erling Haaland will be licking his lips ahead of this encounter following his midweek heroics.

The Norwegian, 24, got himself back amongst the goals with the decisive strike against Tottenham before seeing another chalked off deep into stoppage-time.

Jeremy Doku is another who should relish this contest. The Belgian, 22, has impressed in Manchester City's last two outings - providing the assist for Erling Haaland on Wednesday.
