I’m a millionaire but trolled for the car I drive – people tell me it’s not ‘the thing to do’ but I don’t want a Ferrari

WHEN you think of a millionaire, chances are you'd assume they travel from A to B coasting around in some sort of luxurious sports car.

But a very wealthy woman named Abi, who retired aged 35 thanks to property investing, has told how she's not like the rest of them with their flash vehicles - and instead has chosen a much more affordable and modest Mazda as her go-to car.

In a clip posted to TikTok (@abihookwayproperty), the property and wealth coach says: "I've been trolled because I'm a millionaire and I drive a Mazda and apparently that's not the thing to do."

She continues: "I mean, I could drive a Range Rover, I could drive a Ferrari, but no I drive a Mazda because I'm a mum and it's a 'mummy Mazda.'"

The successful property investor goes on to explain exactly how she funds the car in question.

"Instead of going and buying a car with cash or getting out a loan to buy a car - a car is a liability and goes down in value - I buy a property through my LLP (a limited liability partnership)," she says.

"I then lease my car tax free through my LLP and then drive it around.

"This costs me about £400 a month, and it's all paid from passive income from my property."

In response to the negative comments she's received from keyboard warriors, Abi notes: "So I'm sorry, I do not drive anything more fancier than my mummy Mazda."

She captioned the post: "I’m a millionaire but I drive a Mazda - here’s why…"

The post has since gone viral, racking up a whopping 388k views and several comments from social media users.

"If you're a millionaire, can't you just buy it outright?" asked one.

Abi replied: "That’s not tax efficient! Cars are a liability!"

A second commented: "The millionaires I know all drive 20ish year old beat up cars and land rovers.

"If it gets from A to C without stopping at B that's all that matters."

A third penned: "Biggest mistake people make is making themselves poor trying to look rich. Nothing wrong with a Mazda."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Make it make sense - this is why you're financially free."

Another commented: "Love it! Sensible approach rather than taking out high monthly payments."

A further praised: "Great choice. The Mazda will be much more reliable."

And one more added: "Got the right idea."
