Paris Hilton’s ‘limp-handed poses’ with kids show she’s less egocentric as a mom, but her dogs were her ‘props of love’
THE first few years of motherhood usually involve navigating sleepless nights, endless dirty diapers, and the odd tearful tantrum.
According to a body language expert, this isn't so for Paris Hilton, whose mom and baby Instagram posts show contrasting gestures from those in which she's seen "adoring" her dogs.
Paris, 43, shared photos and videos online through May, posing with her family on vacation in Hawaii.
The model and mogul posed with her two kids, Phoenix, 1, and London, 5 months.
The trio were dressed in matching shades of green in one montage.
Another Instagram image showed them wearing color-coordinating purples and pinks, complete with sunglasses.
All the while, Paris’ kids sat calmly on her lap or at her side.
“It always seems like she doesn’t want skin-to-skin contact. The pictures feel uncomfortable,” commented one fan.
“Make sure the kids match your shirt,” added another.
Body language expert Judi James said it was telling that Paris refrained from “clamping” her kids to her body like other moms.
“No one would expect anything different from Paris Hilton than these poses,” James told The U.S. Sun.
“There would not be any baggy tracksuit bottoms or sick-stained vests.
“Her photos with her two kids are styled and posed like fashion shoots.
“Everyone is on-brand regarding what they wear and how they sit.
“Paris' hands look limp as she holds her children on her lap and not near her face.
She offers no watchful glances or expressions of anxiety, stress or exhaustion.
Judi James
“This is rather than displaying any need to clamp them in place, which is usually the case with family poses.
“Paris is trying to convey that being a mom requires no change of style or body language behavior.
“She offers no watchful glances or expressions of anxiety, stress or exhaustion.”
PUPPY PAST
Before now, Paris had become famous for looking after and loving plenty of small dogs.
She installed a doggy mansion with air conditioning in her home.
Paris was never without her Chihuahua Tinkerbell, which she bought in 2001.
When Tinkerbell passed in 2015, Paris bought Diamond Baby, who went missing in Paris in 2022.
Then came Harajuku Bitch, Prince Baby Bear, the Pomeranian, Crypto Hilton, and Ether Reum.
PROP UP
James claimed Paris's gestures toward her “baby substitutes” differed from those with London and Pheonix.
“With her babies, Paris has moved away from her younger-self poses and the ones that she used to do with her dogs,” she said.
“From using the dogs as props of love, she shows a much less egocentric approach with her new babies.
“In the past, Paris made constant appearances with her baby substitutes.
"This allowed her to pose for the cameras in a way that showed the dogs as fashion accessories.
“She would show her poses of adoration and hold them right up to her face.
“Paris would shower the dogs with kisses to make herself look good.
“With the babies, she signals that she is putting the babies first here, with her eye direction on them.
“She also tells the world that she is besotted with them by her sustained smile as she gazes down at them.”
The former It Girl’s journey toward motherhood has probably not been so simple — or stress-free.
After marrying VC and author Carter Reum, 43, Paris confessed she felt thrilled expanding her family.
“I’m just excited to one day have a little girl named London, and she’ll have her big brother Phoenix to look after her,” she told Vogue in 2023.
“I’ve been planning this for a long time. I just had to find the right partner to do it with. It’s so hard to trust people, and I’m so grateful to have found my husband.”
Paris Hilton’s body language with her babies suggests she has started to grow up.
Judi James
In her new book, Paris: The Memoir, the mom of two outlined her surrogacy journey.
She revealed she wore a prosthetic bump.
"I wanted to know what it felt like to be pregnant, so I bought a prosthetic stomach and wore it around the house for the day. I know that sounds crazy, but I wanted it to feel real — even in just this small way," she wrote.
HIGH BAR
James claimed that, as usual, Paris was setting the bar high for herself in her new role.
“Like everything Paris does, she has set a high bar in her motherhood journey,” she said.
“But this is only about what it looks like to be a mom to two small and active children.

James isolated her “wafting” technique as a key to her growing maturity.
“There is something over-idyllic and ethereal in Paris’ poses with the kids,” she said.
“Paris uses this ‘wafting’ technique and swans in dresses that would never work with two small and lively children.
“Despite all the acute styling and wafting, there is an undercurrent of maturity with her babies.
There seems to be something of a ‘chip off the old block’ connection growing here [with her daughter].
Judi James
“Her eyes barely meet the camera, which is a significant step for a woman whose love affair with the lenses was faithful and long-lasting.
“When she looks in the camera’s direction, her eyes are hidden by shades.
"This suggests a desire to conceal the real depth of her emotional responses.”
Professionally, TMZ reported Paris was working on a new reality show with Nicole Richie.
The pair had worked together on The Simple Life between 2003 to 2007.
Paris has told fans she is releasing an album in September. Her last single came out in 2015.
She has also been sharing posts covering her busy professional life.
MOM & ME
James claimed that Paris looked to be protecting her children throughout.
“As she walks along carrying her son, there is a very strong signal of substance over style from Paris," added James
“Although she looks happy to be filmed, as she gets closer to the camera, her instinct seems to be to be protective.
"In one image, she pulls one side of her kaftan round over her son’s legs."
She is already noticing how her baby is so pale and jokes about her getting a spray tan.

According to James, when Paris commented about regretting her spray tan, it was about wanting to match her child.
“Paris talks directly to her daughter here, which is sweet," she said.
“There seems to be something of a ‘chip off the old block’ connection growing here.
“She is already noticing how her baby is so pale and jokes about her getting a spray tan, too.
“It suggests the matching ‘mom and daughter’ expectation.
