The 38-year-old gave birth to her first daughter Annie Jo at 11:55pm on December 31, 2022 and her second baby Effie Rose arrived at 12:01am on January 1, 2023.

Now, the little girls have celebrated their first birthdays in different years.

Kali Jo and her husband Cliff Scott thought their girls would be born in the 2023 New Year because of their due date.

But the fraternal twins had different ideas.

In the words of Kali, they entered the world “with a little bit of individualism right out of the gates”.

Both girls - who were born two weeks early - weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces.

Kali was initially scheduled to have a caesarean section in January 2023.

However, she was hospitalised for her blood pressure following a checkup on December 29.

That's when the couple from Texas, US realised their twins might be New Year's babies.

"I love the unique aspect that they get to go forward with a little bit of individualism right out of the gates," Kali told Good Morning America after their birth.

“We had joked at that point, once we realised that we weren't going to leave the hospital without babies, that wouldn't it be funny.

“We had a couple friends who said the same thing and then it ended up happening that way.”

Docs at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton decided to perform Kali’s C-section on New Year’s Eve, leading her to have the unique twins.

Annie Jo was the hospital’s last newborn of 2022, while Effie Rose was its first newborn of 2023.

“We're going to have to start celebrating New Year's a little differently now," Kali said.

“One will get to celebrate New Year's Eve going out and [the other] gets to celebrate New Year's Day and the new year coming in.

“I love it. I think it is hilarious and just super fun.”

Sharing the news with family and friends on Facebook, Kali penned: "Cliff and I are so proud to introduce Annie Jo and Effie Rose Scott!

"Annie was the last baby born in 2022 at 11:55 p.m. Then, Effie was the very first born in 2023 at 12:01!
