Whilst your mascara might not be waterproof, one celebrity make-up artist has revealed how you stop your eyeliner from smudging.

Though you might be tempted to go bare face, a beauty guru has shared her alternative method for get flawless eyeliner that sticks.
Unlike other content creators, Melissa Murdick is an LA makeup artist who has created red carpet looks and works closely with Selena Gomez.
The MUA is expert at getting product to stay put for hours and explained that smudge proof eyeliner all about picking the right product.

“Do not use a pencil liner for this,” she saidly, joking throwing it out of frame.
Instead, the celebrity makeup artist uses a waterproof cream eye liner to ensure that everything stays in place.
Emphasising her point, she said: “Not a liquid, not a gel, not a pencil… [a] cream.”
If you are wondering what products she uses, the Tiktok star showed fans the pot of L’Oréal’s lacquer liner, which is thicker than standard gel liners.
Rather than using the brush included in the packet, Melissa opts for the Wing It brush from Elf which she use to pack on the product.
Encouraging her to use what they have rather buy more products, she said: “If you have a small liner brush that you normally use for your cream that will work.”
Having shared the tools of her trade, the MAU then shared her fool proof method for getting smudge proof liner – which involves a surprising household object.
Taking a cotton bud, the influencer get runs it along her water line to dry the area before apply her makeup.

With her canvas now ready, Melissa then showed her fans how ‘pick up’ the liner on both sides before applying it.
“Lay it [the brush] on its side and literally press it in to the waterline,” she explained, adding: “…so we are patting it on so that get a nice thick layer of it.”
After gently dabbing on the eye liner, Melissa will usually add another layer before moving on with the next stage of her makeup.
You can use the same technique for the top of your eye according to the beauty guru, who told her followers that they needed to work in to stop it from smudging.
“Do the exact same thing with on the top water line…making sure that you are really working it in to the roots of the lashes, which helps hold it on.”
As a final touch, the beauty influencer will then added a little brown eye shadow to the edge of her line.

“This actually doesn’t have anything to do with making the product stay, but I think it looks nicer than just having the water line,” she said, revealing that she felt it looked ‘less’ harsh this way.
