So many lie about being ‘unemployed’ or a ‘single-mum’ to get a council house but I told the truth & get called entitled
A WOMAN has hit back at trolls who slam her as 'entitled' for having a council house while earning a decent salary.
Hannah, a mum-of-four in the UK, claimed it was better to have a decent job and be honest about it rather than lie to the council to get on the council housing list.
We all know there is a shortage of affordable homes in the UK - 14,100 social homes in England were lost last year according to Shelter.
The lack of social housing has pushed many people to go private with higher rent prices and the lack of building new homes means demand for homes has increased - as well as rent hikes.
One viewers comment read: "You seem to make good money, how are you still entitled to a council house?" Hannah was quick to respond.
The mum makes money as a content creator for social media as well as running her own wedding photography business along with her husband Ben.

She said: "So no hate at all to this comment, but I just wanted to make a point about something because I feel that everybody pulls me up on the fact that we're in a council house and in a better position.
"But not once has anybody turned around and said to me 'Do you know what Hannah? I think it's really good that you didn't lie to get your council house'."
Hannah went on to claim that when looking for affordable housing for herself and her family she was told numerous times to 'lie' about her situation.
"The council told me 'tell them you're a single parent' like, "split up" with your partner,'" she added.
"The council told me to f***ing quit my job, they were basically telling me to put myself in a really bad situation in order for us to get housed quicker and get more help from the government."
Although Hannah has seemingly received backlash for earning good money and living in a council house, she revealed no one has patted her on the back for not lying to get one.
The mum continued: "Nobody has ever said 'Hannah, thank you so much for not being an absolute b***-end and doing that.
"There is people out there, I f***ing know for a fact that there is people out there who will f***ing lie through their teeth, and we have never lied."
She added that the family went through hell to get housing - all while making sure their kids had no idea what was going on behind the scenes.
Hannah went on to say that she was privately renting from a family member before getting a council house - but they ended up selling the property quickly and kicking them out and left the family desperate to find a new home.
"We were just a couple, with kids, trying our f***ing best. And we were being told to lie in order to get our home," she explained.
The clip has since gone viral over on her TikTok account @noturbasicmama with over 56k views and 4,000 likes.
People were quick to share their opinions in the comments section and the difficulties they have faced with social housing.

Another commented: "Regardless you still pay your rent!! Why people don't understand this baffles me."
"They told me all the same to quit my job etc, Within 2 weeks i was housed cos I had a full time job," penned a third.
"I was so shocked! When I refused to quit my job I was told emergency housing would be £900 a month and Ben wasn’t allowed with us," replied Hannah.
Meanwhile a fourth said: "I honestly don't understand what people problem is. does it really matter how much money you have. as long as you pay rent and council tax who cares."
"I’m still waiting for a council house, 6 years and still nowhere near,” claimed a fifth.
