My 5 hacks make hosting & cleaning up after your New Year’s party a breeze – a BYO trick will reduce your trash by half
THERE'S nothing worse than having to spend hours cleaning up after hosting a party.
One woman has shared some of her eco-friendly tips that make the day after your festivities easy and breezy.
In her video, Maria Fernanda Leduc (@maferleduc) explained the logic behind each of her tricks, which "make cleaning up a breeze."
The eco enthusiast shared the clip as part of the TikTok for Good (@tiktokforgood) initiative.
For her first hack, Maria suggested adding a BYO element to your get-together.
"Put 'bring your own cup' in your party invite," she advised her followers.
"Plastic cups make so much waste and if everybody brings their cup, you've already reduced half of your trash," Maria explained.
She showed a clip of her friends all holding their own reusable cups at her house.
Maria also addressed the topic of recycling when it comes to cleaning up.
"Have a super clear recycle station, I label several of my trash cans so it’s easy for my guests to recycle," she said.
Next, Maria shared the best kind of beverages to buy for your parties.
"Prioritize drinks in aluminum [cans] or glass bottles, plastic is so much harder to recycle," she told her audience.
Similarly, she recommended opting for snacks that come in less packaging.
"Get snacks in a package-free grocery store and if you don’t have one nearby, try buying in bulk so you can cut down on individual packaging," Maria advised.
Finally, she showed her viewers the best way to decorate their space ahead of a party.
"If you want to decorate either reuse old decorations or make new ones with recycled materials," Maria said.
