I tried Sol de Janeiro dupes from Home Bargains – they’re nothing more than average body cream, don’t waste your money

A WOMAN who is hailed the 'Sol de Janeiro Queen' by her followers online has shared what she thinks of the new dupes in Home Bargains.

Taking to social media, Sinead Baldev bought most of the Home Bargains range and the three scents it comes in to see how they really compared to the originals.

Not wasting any time, Sinead got into exactly what she thought of the range, after her followers asked her to review them.

She said: "I don't know how honest you want me to be. You know how I go. My mouth gets me into trouble.

"The new dupes of the Sol de Janeiro from Home Bargains, they are s**t."

In saying that Sinead said they were only bad in comparison to the real deal, rather than the money they are.

The price difference between the two is staggering Home Bargains' range starts at £23.99 for the sprays and goes up to £4.49 for the body butters.

That's a massive saving compared to the prices of Sol de Janeiro which cost £22 for the smallest body spray and £35 for the body creams.

The new line of dupes come in three scents - Pink Lychee and Crystal Waters, a dupe of number 68, Cherry Bomb and Jasmine Bloom, a dupe of number 40 and the Vanilla, Almond and Salted Caramel as fa dupe for number 62.

But Sinead went on to share if she though they were even a close dupe - from the textures to the scents.

Testing the body butters first, Sinead revealed none of them had the same thick consistency as the originals - and the smells weren't any better either.

"When you first initially open the pink one, (she tried the dupe of number 68 called Pink Lychee and Crystal waters) and give it a sniff, it does smell like the original," she admitted.

Shoppers flock to Poundland to nab £1 Fabulosa’s dupes that ‘smell exactly like’ Sol De Janeiro’s £22 cult cream

"However, leave the lid off of the dupe for 5, 10 minutes, you can't smell it."

Putting both products on the back of her hand she demonstrated how watery the dupe was compared to the original.

Sinead then moved on to the shower gels and she said they smelt nothing like the sol de Janeiro scents.

Trying the dupe for number 62, she said: "They smell nothing like each other.

"You've got your rich salted caramels in this (she said pointing to the original), This is giving Imperial leather, (she said of the dupe.)"

The mum said this would be great for younger kids who watch TikTok and want Sol de Janeiro but don't quite have the budget for it.

She added: "I don't think they're anything in comparison to Sol de Janeiro.

"The only dupe about it is the packaging.

"I feel like there nothing more than your normal, average body cream."

Sinead then tried two of the sprays in a separate clip - and she seemed to be more impressed with them.

I like it, when I say run and do not walk.

In particular, she thought the Pink Lychee and Crystal Waters, a dupe of number 68, was very similar.

"It actually smells nice. Does it smell like the 68?" she asked.

She then sprayed the original, adding: "It does. Not as strong.

"But we do get what we pay for so we can't be moaning.

"I like it, when I say run and do not walk.

"Do I think that this is gonna last as long as this? No, I don't. But it's under £5. We don't care.

"Get in the basket, hun."

The next spray she tried was the Cherry Bomb and Jasmine Bloom, a dupe of number 40.

While she claimed it smelt nothing like the original she did think it still smelt really good.

"No, no, no. Nothing like it whatsoever, " she explained.

"Is it nice? It is nice. It's nice. But nothing like the Sol de Janeiro."

The clips posted to her TikTok account @sineadbaldev have since gone viral with over 1million views and 100k likes.

People were quick to praise Sinead for her honest review of the new range of products.

One person wrote: "I was going to get it but not now."

Another commented: "Only trust your review of these you and Mia are the queens of Sol de Janeiro deffo won’t be buying the Glow version."

"I don't think I'll bother with the dupes," penned a third.

Meanwhile, many were excited to hear that the sprays were at least worth grabbing, a fourth said: "So glad I’ve seen this before splurging on the full set, will def try the sprays though!"

"I might get them,” claimed a fifth.
