I’m an ‘obese’ woman who loves travelling… cruel trolls tell me to ‘buy two seats’ but there’s a reason I never do it

AN ''OBESE'' woman has explained why she never bothers booking two seats when it comes to jetting off.

Travelling enthusiast Kirsty Leanne took to TikTok after cruel trolls - who've also branded her ''obese'' - urged her to fork out for two seats whenever boarding a plane.

The plus-size woman, 30, from Shropshire, regularly shares travel advice for larger-bodied people on her page and admitted that it's ''uncomfortable'' if she's seated next to another person - both for them and her.

However, whilst many critics have slammed Kirsty insisting ''the solution is quite simple'' and she should ''buy two seats'' if she struggles to ''fit in one'', the 30-year-old recently revealed why it's not always possible.

Although Kirsty understood ''why for some this seems like a reasonable suggestion'', the travelling super fan claimed that she's faced great trouble in the past trying to book two seats for herself.

''There are a lot of airlines that do not make it easy to buy a second seat under the same name and if you call up their customer services or try to speak to them online, a lot of people don't even understand what you're trying to do,'' Kirsty hit back at her haters in the clip.

The 30-year-old, whose TikTok platform has won her close to 130k fans, added that she had put this to test last year - and for the most part the employees of the ''major airlines'' appeared to be totally baffled.

However, even if you somehow manage to book two seats under the same name and surname, Kirsty warned that this doesn't necessarily guarantee you a comfortable journey.

''There are also issues when you get on board the plane. Low cost carriers, for example, will out your seats far away from one another where you will have to pay an extortionate amount just to put them together again.

Other planes, she went on to add in the video, have ''fixed armrests''.

''So even if you do buy a second seat, you're no better off.''

''There are also the airlines that will overbook their seats and then take yours away from you - even though you've paid for it.

''That's just a few of the reasons that honestly make me think there needs to be better systems in place to make sure everyone is comfortable.''

Kirsty also shared a solution in the caption, explaining how she can ensure a second seat without faff and fuss.

''I personally find the much more successful way of getting a second seat is to ask at the check-in on the day of your flight, or to ask when boarding!''

Unfortunately for Kirsty, not everyone agreed with her and some even reckoned ''it shouldn’t be free to accommodate 'overweight' people''.

One wrote: ''As a plus size person I don’t get your entitlement. I’m embarrassed when I need a seat belt extender, I would be mortified if I needed 2 seats.''

Another shared their experience, writing: ''I was squished once all the way to my window because of passenger next to me.

''If you know you cant fit in one seat don’t make other people suffer.''

A third chimed in: ''I'm disabled and need 2 seats and don't know how to do it. Honestly, I can't help being disabled but obese people can change things for the most part.''

Luckily, there were also some kind comments supportive TikTok users had left.

''Why is everyone being so horrible to you? These comments are disgusting, I'm so sorry,'' wrote one, reminding others to be kinder.

Another agreed, adding: ''Airlines should do better!

''There should be better systems for plus size people, tall people, and disabled people!''
