Thousands are getting refunds as huge PlayStation exclusive is removed from storefronts

PLAYSTATION came under fire recently after it was announced that the PS console exclusive Helldivers 2, would require a PSN account even if you are playing via Steam.

Around 120 countries do not have PlayStation accounts available, meaning that following the change, they would no longer have access to their game.

Steam developer Valve started issuing refunds for Helldivers 2, no matter how many hours people had played, which caused PlayStation to backtrack on the decision.

Players thought it would be the end of the saga, with Sony now realising that there are thousands of players who have access to Steam but not PSN.

However, this seems not to be the case, as another PS console exclusive could suffer a similar fate.

Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is seeing a Steam release this week, launching on Friday, May 16, 2024.

More in PlayStation

Pre-orders for the game have been available for a while, and many people purchased the game ready for launch.

However, people who live in countries that do not have access to PSN began to notice that their purchase was being auto-refunded.

Countries all over the world are affected by the refunds including Estonia, Jamaica, Nigeria and the Philippines.

A warning message has appeared on the Steam page that reads: “Requires 3rd-Party Account: PlayStation Network (Online Multiplayer, PlayStation overlay) (Supports Linking to Steam Account).”

Although largely a single-player experience, Ghost of Tsushima does include an online co-op mode, called Legends.

This makes it clear why many people are getting their pre-orders refunded.
