I’m a 48-year-old lawyer and love wearing leather, miniskirts and sequins to work – I’m not too old to feel good

FOR those working in the cooperate world, the clothing can feel a little stifling with blazers, wool skirts and smart trousers all being standard office wear.

One 48-year-old has found a way to include leather, glitter and even miniskirts in her workwear – despite being a lawyer.

Despite having a rather serious job and even appearing in court on occasion, this hasn’t stopped George from sharing her love of fashion on Tiktok.

Better known by her handle, @awomancalledgeorge, this ‘midlife hispter’ regular raids the charity shops looking for vintage finds – such as a Ralph Lauren coat for £9.

Whilst the dark wool peacoat might not be that unusual in the corporate world, the fashion forward vlogger decided to inject a pick of sparkle and added a sequined jumper underneath, with monochromatic striped t-shirt and bold red lip.

Though she was giving major Parisian vibes, the law expert also pair her look with dark straight leg jeans and boots to make her work appropriate outfit a little edgier in a viral video.

This Gen X influencer isn’t opposed to sourcing show-stopping pieces from the high street either, although she does admit she prefers more eco-friendly alternatives like charity shops.

While she might have questioned whether it was too young for her, George’s black pleather playsuit was definitely a statement piece with its mutton sleeves and long shorts.

“It’s only clothes and like I’ve said before if this is what makes me feel better, it’s got be betting than hiding under the duvet,” she explained, showing off how she’d the H&M item with tights and a collared shirt.

She has even worn mini skirts to the office before, enjoying the fact that she used to avoid the fashion staple.

George also regularly injects bright colours into her wardrobe too and recently filmed a video about her stunning ‘Quality Street’ sparkly dress.

Worn to the office on the last day before Christmas, she joked the dress resembled the iconic triangular sweets and revealed that she’d brought it last year.

Rather than let it linger in her wardrobe for another year though, the legal eagle was determined to bring some festive cheer to her office job.

In fact, the 48-year-old confessed that finding happiness was a large part of why she started posting on social media.

During a heartfelt admission, George confessed that she’d felt like she’d become ‘invisible’ after hitting middle age.

She told her 49,000 followers: “Don’t get me wrong, I love hair, makeup, second hand clothes…I love all of that but I actually started this because as I have gotten older and particularly since I’ve let my hair go grey, I’ve noticed that middle aged women become invisible.”

Having also struggled with bouts of depression, the 48-year-old was keen to share her joyful dressing and began posting on Tiktok, hoping to find a 'tribe’ of likeminded women.

Unsurprisingly, her posts have struck accord thousands across the globe with others feeling inspired by her approach to clothes.
