Kay, 63, later confirmed she was moving house and would be back on air soon.

It comes as the journalist's sister Jacqueline battles breast cancer.

But taking to Instagram, Kay has issued a positive update on her medical treatment as she shared a throwback snap.

Kay told fans: "Thank you to all of you who regularly ask about my baby sister, Jacqueline.

"She’s had her cancer op. It was a big deal but she’s as strong as an ox.

"This was us in January. I hope it will be us next January and the one after that and the one after that ad infinitum."

Fans flocked to send their well wishes to Kay's 'baby sister' Jacqueline, with one writing: "Wishing you a speedy recovery Jacqueline."

A second said: "Sending love and wishes to you, your sister and family."

"Across the pond wishing her a speedy recovery," said a third.

While a fourth commented: "All the best to your sister, you will be seeing each other many years to come. God bless you both."

Kay previously spoke about her mother's battle cancer and tragic death when her son Alexander was just eight months old.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain in 2018, Kay revealed: "My mum died when she was my age.

"My little boy was eight months old. It still makes me sad actually just to think about it.

"I remember her saying to me at the time..."
