‘Worst nightmare’: Indonesian woman takes sick day for holiday, bumps into boss at airport

As she was queuing to board the plane, she saw a familiar face and heard a familiar voice calling her name. It was her manager.

“Is this the hospital?” he asked sarcastically.

She said she was stunned to see him, but they ended up laughing and chatting, realising they were on the same flight to Bali.

The manager, who was sitting a few rows in front of Grace, later took a photo of the seat his employee was in and sent it to her mobile.

In a viral video clip, she captioned two selfies. The first picture, taken before she bumped into her boss, showed her posing with a peace sign.

In the second, she was covering her face with her coat and looking embarrassed.

It is not clear whether she will be punished by her employer when she returns to work.

Grace’s footage has been viewed nearly 900,000 times on TikTok.

“I would cry like a kid and hand in my resignation letter,” one person who commented on the incident said.

“I might have jumped off the aircraft,” said another.

Another person shared a similar experience of taking a flight on a day he was supposed to be off sick. When his manager called him, he could hear the airport’s boarding announcements in the background.

Previous embarrassing workplace incidents have made headlines in China.

Last year, a woman in central Henan province accidentally sent 50 photos of herself and a close friend to a work chat group.

After realising her mistake, she hastily withdrew all the images, saying the task made her hand hurt.

Her colleagues took it in good humour and said her mobile phone must have a virus.
