Man Utd transfer news LIVE: EXCLUSIVE as Reds chase ‘Argentine Phil Foden’ and ‘front-runners’ for Antoine Semenyo

  • Man Utd transfer Exclusive

Manchester United could make a £38million swoop for the player dubbed “the Argentine Phil Foden”.

River Plate teenager Franco Mastantuono is being closely monitored by the Old Trafford side as they look for a summer re-boot.

But United may have to get in quick as Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also on the trail of the 17-year-old starlet.

Mastantuono, the latest off the astonishing River Plate production line, became the youngest scorer in the club’s history when he netted in an Argentine Cup win over Excursionistas in February 2024 at just 16 years and five months, beating the record held by Javier Saviola.

He has added five more goals since, capped by a stunning individual strike in last week’s win over Gimnasia as he picked the ball up on the right and exploded inside, leaving three defenders for dead before finding the bottom corner with his favoured left foot.

That style of play, starting on the right, has seen the comparisons to Foden as like the Manchester City ace, he can play in a variety of roles across the middle of the park but prefers to switch inside onto his stronger foot.

And United are understood to be considering meeting the £38million release clause in his contract to land a player who is set to have a global stage this summer when he features for the Buenos Aires outfit in Fifa’s new expanded Club World Cup.

  • Rayan Cherki interest

Manchester United are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon star Rayan Cherki this summer.

That is after Cherki impressed during his unofficial audition in the Europa League.

According to The Mail, United are set for a massive overhaul in the summer and have identified the winger as major target.

Lyon are open to a sale due to their challenging financial situation, and the Red Devils feel that the 21-year-old's age and skill make him the right man for the job.

It has been suggested that there is a verbal agreement allowing the frenchman to leave the club if the £25million fee is met.

  • New Sesko price tag

Manchester United are targeting RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko ahead of the summer transfer window.

This comes after Leipzig slapped a new price tag on Sesko.

And the striker is on the radar of several clubs, including Premier League foes Arsenal.

But both sides will have to pay a premium to secure the Slovenia international's services as, according to Bild, Leipzig have set up an £86million price tag on the 21-year-old's head.

  • Antoine Semenyo interest

Manchester United are leading the race for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo.

Semenyo has been attracting interest from Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window.

But Sky Sports claim United are the "frontrunners" to land the midfielder.

The Ghana international has amassed a total of 10 goals and six assists in 37 appearances this season.

  • Obi reveals special message he received from Amorim

Manchester United youngster Chido Obi has revealed the special message he received from manager Ruben Amorim ahead of his Premier League debut.

The young forward, who impressed despite United’s defeat to Wolves at the weekend, told MUTV that the manager assured him of more opportunities, as long as he continues to work hard.

He said: He’s just told me to be humble and to keep working hard every day, and that should give me more opportunities soon.”

Manchester United are expected to heavily rely on youth next season as they look to inject more energy into a squad that has disappointed in the league this campaign.

  • Manchester United told price of summer target

Manchester United will have to pay £68m to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike this summer.

After a difficult stint at PSG, the 22-year-old has found form in the Bundesliga with Eintracht, where he's scored 14 goals in 28 league games.

A host of clubs, including Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool, are interested, but it’s Manchester United who are thought to be most keen, even if they have to pay an arm and a leg to secure his services.

United have endured their worst campaign in recent history and will be determined to bolster the squad to close the gap on their domestic and European rivals.

  • Manchester United eyeing Championship duo

Manchester United Could Swoop for Sunderland duo Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg this Summer as they look to the future.

UtdDistrict reports that Ruben Amorim could be tempted to bring in the Sunderland pair as he is determined to recruit fresh legs who can play his style of football.

The 13-time Premier League champions are set to let go of a number of their big hitters as they focus on the future. In an indication of this, they have already signed Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven in January.

Ruben Amorim has endured a difficult start to life as United boss, but if he can win the Europa League and rebuild in the summer, there will be hope for the future.

  • Manchester United on Delap

Manchester United have jumped ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign Ipswich's Liam Delap this summer, according to the Evening Standard.

The young English striker will be available for £30m due to a clause that will be activated once Ipswich's relegation to the Championship is confirmed. He has scored 12 goals and bagged two assists.

Manchester United face a massive rebuild, having slumped to 14th in the league table with just 38 points.

Chelsea though are still monitoring him, with manager Enzo Maresca having worked with the forward during his time at Manchester City's under-21 side.

  • A new gem

Manchester United are strong favourites to sign Xavi Simons if he leaves RB Leipzig in the summer, according to reports from Sky Sports Germany.

Liverpool are also reportedly interested in the 21-year-old Netherlands international, who is rapidly growing in reputation across Europe.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has had a tough start to life in the Premier League, and the season will now be defined by whether or not they win the Europa League.

However, in the summer, he will be given the opportunity to shape the team in his own image, and Xavi Simons could be one of the players he looks to bring in.

  • Amorim goes for Cherki

Manchester United are leading Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon's Rayan Cherki this summer after he impressed during his audition in the Europa League.

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set for a massive overhaul in the summer and have identified the 21-year-old, who made a significant impact in their dramatic Europa League win last week.

Lyon are open to a sale due to their challenging financial situation, and United feel that Cherki's age and skill make him the right man for the job.

It has been suggested that there is a verbal agreement allowing him to leave the club if the £25 million fee is met.

  • A Brazilian cutting edge

Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is reportedly a target for Manchester United, and he made his mark against the Red Devils over the weekend.

The attacker played a key role in the Black Country side’s 1-0 win away to United, winning the free kick that Pablo Sarabia converted late in the game.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Cunha made sure to hint at his desire to move to Old Trafford in the summer by hugging manager Ruben Amorim as he headed into the tunnel at halftime.

Cunha, 25, has scored 14 league goals this season, more than any Manchester United forward in the league.

  • Man Utd could re-sign Elanga

Former Manchester United star Anthony Elanga could be re-signed this summer.

According to CaughtOffside, The Red Devils could offer £43million for Elanga during transfer window.

Elanga has shown an immense progress at Nottingham Forest where he scored six goals and registered nine assists this season, surpassing his total of four goals and four assists during his tenure in Manchester.

With Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho possibly leaving, Ineos plans to raise £100 million through sales this summer.

Amorim will therefore require reinforcements up front, and Anthony Elanga has surfaced as a possible choice.

  • Man Utd's striker search

Manchester United ace Rasmus Hojlund has struggled since he arrived in England two years ago.

As such, United are looking elsewhere for an option up top for next season.

One option on their radar is Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick.

Schick has stood out for Leverkusen with 23 goals and one assist in 40 appearances.

  • Ram raid

Manchester United are considering a summer move for Aaron Ramsdale.

The England keeper - also being closely monitored by West Ham - has emerged as a possible replacement for Andre Onana.

Ramsdale is set to leave relegated Southampton at the end of the season after joining the club for £20m last summer.

  • Dusan Vlahovic interest

Manchester United could join the bidding war for Juventus star Dusan Vlahovic this summer.

Vlahovic's contract expires in 2026 and Juventus are keen to cut their losses and sell after an inconsistent season as they fear losing a prized asset for free next year.

According to TuttoJuve, United are one of four Premier League clubs "ready" to make a move for the "strong, massive" suitor.

However, Man Utd face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle.

The same source claims the Serbia international's camp demand a yearly salary of £8.5million, which is almost identical to his current wages in Turin.

The report adds that the potential transfer war could raise the 25-year-old's asking price to £38m, which is considered a hefty fee for a player whose contract runs out in a year.

  • Brentford open to offers for Mbeumo

Brentford might struggle to hold onto its forward Bryan Mbeumo and could be open to offers.

The 25-year-old has scored 16 goals and provided five assists in 32 Premier League games thus far this season.

CaughtOffside reports that Brentford may seriously accept offers in the range of £50-55 million for Mbeumo.

Arsenal appears to be Mbeumo’s main suitor.

However, the Cameroon international is also coveted by Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

  • Eriksen's future

Christian Eriksen's future at United remains uncertain.

As things currently stand, the midfielder will be headed towards the door when his contract expires this summer.

Liverpool legend Mark Lawrenson told Paddy Power: "For those players whose contracts are up, like Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, I don’t see their contracts getting renewed.

"I imagine United will be looking to get as many players as possible out the door this summer, to build up money so they can bring in at least three or four players."

  • Dembele interest

Amorim is looking to snap up PSG's attacker Ousmane Dembele this summer.

As the Red Devils get ready to permanently let go of players like Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho—all three were permitted to go on loan this season—they should have space for new attacking signings.

With an incredible 32 goals in 42 games for the Ligue 1 champions since Kylian Mbappe left, Dembele has become PSG's star player this season.

His incredible play has drawn interest from a number of Premier League teams, including Arsenal.

However, PSG will try to hold on to their star player with a lucrative contract offer.

  • Man Utd 'keen on signing Bisseck'

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Inter Milan defender Yann Bisseck.

According to Fichajes, the Red Devils are preparing a £51million offer for the centre-back.

The Germany international has scored four goals and registered five assists during his 57 appearances with Inter.

Bisseck is under the contract with Inter until June 2029.

  • United made an 'offer' for Simons

RB Leipzig star Xavi Simons is under contract until 2027 but the club could sell the young player for £69million.

Manchester United, however, are willing to up that price to £116million.

According to reports, the Red Devils offered the eye-watering sum to RB Leipzig in order to secure the talented midfielder.

Simons has been on the radar of Liverpool, Man City and Bayern Munich this season - but has caught the attention of United scouts.

The Mail claims United have made the versatile playmaker their "top target" this summer.

  • Osimhen 'signs deal' with United

Victor Osimhen has already signed an agreement to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window, reports claim.

The Nigeria international is due back at Napoli once this season ends after spending it on loan with Galatasaray.

Turkish journalist Serdar Ali Celikler claimed on NEO Spor that the striker has reached an agreement with United.

But that a club deal hasn't been struck between Napoli and United yet.

Sources said no mention of an exact transfer fee has been mentioned, but they estimate it at between £25-30 million.

Osimhen's current deal with Napoli expires in 2026, so the Serie A side will want to avoid letting him go for free.

  • Watkins stance on Man Utd transfer

Ollie Watkins was left fuming after being benched during Aston Villa's match against PSG on Tuesday.

According to the Daily Star, Watkins could be tempted to transfer to Manchester United as he searches for regular football.

Watkins told Sky Sports: "I was fuming I wasn't playing. I let [Emery] know that. He's the manager at the end of the day. I respect his decision. But I'm not one of the players happy to sit on the bench.

"It's something I haven't experienced before and then to miss out on the biggest stage, you always want to play, especially in the Champions League

"We did end up beating them but obviously not across both legs. The team played really well but I wanted to be out on the pitch much longer.

"I wanted to be starting in the important games because I've played a big part to get to where we are today."

  • Onana's replacement is NOT a priority

Ruben Amorim had told his recruitment staff he was keen on a new No 1 this summer after a string of high-profile clangers by Onana.

Yet the Manchester United head coach’s transfer kitty will be determined by departures . . . and without mass exits, Amorim has bigger  priorities in other positions.

Heading the list is a top-level  striker but he has also targeted a central defender, left-back and at least one more midfielder ahead of replacing 29-year-old Onana.

Onana has let in 99 goals in just 69 Prem games since  signing from Inter Milan for an initial £43.8m in July 2023 but wants to prove he is up to the job.

Unless there are a pile of exits, he is set to get his wish, with Amorim keen to sort other problem areas first . . . starting in attack.

  • Race for Eberechi Eze

Ruben Amorim wants Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace as a key summer signing — and is hopeful of winning the race.

The Selhurst Park favourite could fit into Amorim’s system in the front three, where his ability to make and take goals would be a huge upgrade.

But the Red Devils will not have it all their own way with Aston Villa potential rivals if they cannot land United loanee Marcus Rashford

Midfielder Eze, 26, still has two years left on his deal, with the final 12 months an option the Eagles are sure to take up.

But even so, time is running out and he is bound to have widespread interest in his signature with Palace braced for offers in the £50million range.

Palace know Eze’s price will drop after the summer window.

Eze is 27 in June and hitting his peak years, so he knows this transfer window is the time for his main career move.

  • 'Antony is much better in Spain'

Antony was sent out on loan to Spanish side Real Betis in January.

Antony is clearly enjoying his time at Betis and Betis CEO Ramon Alarcon recently claimed that the star wants to extend his stay at the Villamarin Stadium.

While United boss Amorim has suggested that Antony's revival might be down to Spanish football's less physical style.

Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: "When you play against any team in England, the physicality is there. If you don't have physicality, you will struggle a lot.

'Antony is so much better now in Spain. It's [because of] a lot of factors but I guarantee you it's physicality."
