Man Utd ‘line up PSG star Manuel Ugarte as Sir Jim Ratcliffe enters shock transfer race for midfielder’
MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in PSG star Manuel Ugarte, according to reports.
The Red Devils are keen to sign a central midfielder this summer.
It is one of three positions that are a priority to new chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe - along with a new centre-back and striker.
Ugarte, 23, is one of the midfielders that are on Man Utd's radar and Sky Sports report that they are considering a bid.
But a move at this time could be complex as he is away at the Copa America with Uruguay.
It is also believed that PSG do not want to sell after recently rejecting interest from Juventus.
Ugarte has only been at PSG for one season, having made a £50million switch from Sporting Lisbon last summer.
The defensive midfielder played 37 times last term and was dubbed a "revelation" by French media outlets.
And he matches Ratcliffe's transfer requirements as he looks to sign players under the age of 25, who are not classed as Galacticos.
Joshua Zirkzee is the striker seemingly top of Man Utd's wishlist and the club are reportedly ready to pay the Bologna star's £34million release clause.
Meanwhile, Everton centre-back Jarrad Branthwaite is also wanted by the club.
However, they are yet to go back in with a second offer after an initial bid worth £35m was rejected.
