‘Cheap as chips’ homeowner raves about £1.50 ASDA buy that gets rid of green algae on wooden fences WITHOUT a jet wash

WITH the summer months just around the corner, many people are looking to spruce up their gardens in any way they can.

And for a lot of homeowners, that starts with the fence...which is likely to be covered in green mould and algae following the heavy rainfall from the winter months.

But instead of forking out on a pricey jet wash, or spending hours giving it a good scrub down, one woman named Jennie has shared the "cheap as chips" product she says is "amazing."

Taking to Facebook group Gardening On A Budget Official, she posted a photo of her algae-covered fence and the bargain buy in question - 'Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster Spray, which can be bought for just £1.49 from the likes of Asda.

She penned: "Cheap as chips Mould and Mildew spray to get rid of green algae on fences.

"This fence has bugged me since we moved in..I painted it but within a few weeks it was green again.

"Someone suggested the mould and mildew spray and I was sceptical so thought I'd try just a few slats to see if it made and difference...did it last week and promptly forgot all about it..just been to check and its amazing!"

She added: "Much cheaper than any fence treatment I've seen and/or hiring a jet washer!"

The Astonish spray claims to effectively remove mould and mildew in minutes, killing 99.9% of bacteria.

Simple to use, all you need to do is spray, leave on for a few minutes and then wipe clean - with the active formula even helping to prevent the mould and mildew from returning.

It wasn't long before the post garnered quite the response, with many praising the product for being effective.

"I used this on my fence too - no need two scrub literally just sprayed it on & left it & fence was back brown the next day," praised one.

"I love this stuff - works on loads of stuff," a second commented.

A third wrote: "I’ve recommended this in the past. Works on slabs as well!"

However, a few others issued a word of warning when it comes to the product in question.

"This will be horrendous for the environment, poison to birds which feed on the bugs living on the fence, poisoning the soil," one person noted.

Another agreed: "I wouldn’t use this. My cat likes drinking from puddles. So if it rains I’d be worried."
