Gabriel Jesus’ injury could force Arsenal into the transfer market to buy a new No9.

“Unfortunately on Thursday in the training session, just at the end he felt something in his groin,” Mikel Arteta said in a press conference.

“We’ll need to assess him. We need to have an MRI scan to see, but he wasn’t available for the game. We have to see [if it is a long-term injury].

As the Blades are finalising a takeover, they hoped to land him on loan for a promotion push but are now working on a loan-to-buy deal.

Stoke City are also long-term admirers of Cannon — but may be reluctant to put the money down immediately for the forward.

Cannon, who has one cap for the Republic of Ireland, is under contract for four more years but wants more game time.

Last season, he only made 13 appearances in the Championship for the Foxes.

Manchester United legend Dwight Yorke has claimed Crystal Palace forward Eberechi Eze would not improve Erik ten Hag's side.

Speaking to CSGOLuck, he said: "Even Eberechi Eze won’t push Manchester United to the next level because they don’t get the ball in the right areas.

"The United way is about getting the ball to you forwards as quickly as possible but United are slow on the ball and they get picked off. No matter the type of player they bring in they won’t be able to express themselves because they won’t get the balls in the right areas.

"Mason Mount has suffered because he doesn’t get the ball in areas, they need a player like Michael Carrick, Paul Scholes or Roy Keane to win the ball back and get it to the right players quickly.

"Casemiro has gone backwards and Kobbie Mainoo had a great season last year but he’s so young. Ten Hag is asking a young man to do a job that takes time to learn.

"United need one player in the six position who will always play the first pass forward and not sideways. That’s what United have been doing and it’s crap. It’s easy to play against."

"Anthony Gordon is one of the examples, so we can improve players and make things happen."

He went on to add: "But, there are not too many [job offers at the top of the table]. Manchester United will not come for me, Chelsea will not come for me.

Ex-Blues boss Antonio Conte has been keen on taking the Belgian to Napoli all summer.

The Serie A side initially hoped to sign Lukaku on loan with a view to a permanent deal.

The 31-year-old has spent the last two seasons on loan in Italy, firstly with Inter Milan and then Roma. However, Chelsea wanted a sale this summer and are close to getting their way, with the deal likely to include a sell-on clause.

Lukaku joining Napoli will mean striker Victor Osimhen can leave the Italian club.

Chelsea have kept tabs on the Nigerian all summer, though face competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Arabia.

Osimhen’s wages, close to £300,000, could prove an issue. Chelsea’s American owners have worked hard to reduce the overall wage bill at Stamford Bridge – and Osimhen’s salary would not fit the new structure.

The conditions will mean that a club in the Champions League will not be drawn against a team in the Europa League.
