I’m living on £1 a day by nabbing whatever food is at Spar for 30p at 5pm – it’s the only way I can save to move home
FROM food to fuel, the cost-of-living crisis has affected households up and down the country.
But one savvy woman has told how she's cutting back costs by living on just £1 a day by nabbing whatever food and drink has been slashed to 30p at the end of the day in her local Spar.
Taking to money-saving Facebook group B&M Bargains, Extreme Money Saving Deals and More, she explained: "For the next two months I am going to live on beans on toast, Super Noodles and bread, spaghetti etc…and whatever is at Spar for 30p at 5pm."
The woman, who noted that she doesn't eat meat 95% of the time, only when it's on sale, went onto say it could include anything from chicken fillets, ham, fish, cakes and fruit - adding if they have lots of options she likes she'll buy them all.
And for anyone asking why she's set herself such a challenge, she revealed all...
"I'm going to save all my money and try and move," she commented.

"And also to get £500 saved up in my pigeon rescue fund pot so I never have to panic if I find one and haven't got the funds to get to the vets or buy the meds."
"So basically I will be trying the living on £1 a day food and drink wise."
She went on to say that she's seen it a few times on YouTube but that mainly involves food prep, so it works out at £1 a day.
"I will try that in the future when I get an air fryer or something like that as I do not have a cooker/oven at the moment as it broke on me last year so I use a electric stove," she added.
The money-saving whizz told how she's a fan of Asda's own brand items so has a few options such as 30p potatoes, 20p peas or carrots, and 20p gravy, and will top it up using the reduced yellow-sticker items from Spar.
It wasn't long before the post garnered several likes and comments, with many sharing their own top budgeting tips and tricks.
One person suggested grabbing a bag of self-raising flour and advised: "Make a dough with either water or milk or yogurt and create various flat breads and pizza bases.
"I used self-raising flour and water and made a pizza base and the other day used self-raising flour, water and spices and made a lush little loaf/ wedge of bread with a generous amount of butter was lush!"
A second recommended getting a halogen oven and noted: "I'm sure you can get one for less than £50, cook as good as an oven, but don't use as much electricity and can sit on the side in kitchen.
