X Factor legend lands huge TV acting role 16 years after winning the show and selling millions of records
AN X Factor legend who won the show 16 years ago has landed a huge new TV acting role.
Paramount+ today announced new UK drama Curfew starring Sarah Parish - and she'll be joined by some big names.
As well as Mandeep Gill, who previously played Phoebe McQueen in Hollyoaks, singer and West End star Alexandra Burke will feature in the six-part drama.
Curfew is a crime thriller set in a society where all men live under the 'The Women’s Safety Act’ - meaning they are forced to stay home between 7pm and 7am.
Alexandra, 35, plays Helen, a teacher and advocate for the curfew.
She won The X Factor in 2008 - following an iconic duet with Beyoncé - and Alexandra went on to score three UK number singles and has sold more than five million records.
More on Alexandra Burke
Alexandra made her West End debut in 2014, taking over from Beverley Knight as Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard.
In 2017 Alexandra took part in Strictly Come Dancing and made it to the final with Gorka Marquez.
She and her footballer boyfriend Darren Randolph welcomed their second child in September last year.
Alexandra revealed that she was pregnant for a second tome in April 2023, just eight months after welcoming her first baby.
Shortly before announcing their happy news she sparked wedding rumours after referring to footballer Darren, 36, as "hubby" in an Instagram post thanking him for making her first Mother's Day special.
She wrote: "My first Mother’s Day as your mama. Feeling very blessed. Can’t thank the hubby enough for making me feel so special and loved.”
Alexandra continued: “My little baby Grape - thank you for making me a better person. For making me the best version of myself and showing up in ways I thought I never could… I am so lucky to be your mum."
