Liverpool have one of their four targeted trophies now in the bag. The extra-time win over Chelsea seemed special last Sunday, and with a trophy already secured, the pressure may have eased slightly on the players who will want to give Klopp a good send-off.

Ahead of the Saints match, the Reds injury list is lengthening. And with crunch Premier League games on the horizon, Jurgen Klopp may not want to risk too many of his star names against Southampton, even if they are available for selection.

It’s hard to see the Liverpool boss risking Darwin Nunez or Mohamed Salah with clashes against Nottingham Forest and Manchester City coming up over the next two weekends. 

So, with the FA Cup likely to be third priority on the list of trophies Liverpool still have to play for this season, could this open the door for Southampton? 

Southampton will certainly be hoping so. But they’ve hit the buffers in recent weeks in the Championship, and with the Saints in the battle for one of the two automatic promotion places, they will also have split loyalties heading into this fixture.

Luis Diaz has scored in his last three appearances at Anfield. And with Diogo Jota out and doubts over Darwin Nunez and Mo Salah, the 27-year-old is likely to be in the starting XI again for this match.
