And we’ve even got to know the character over the years.

There’s grandma, grandpa and the little baby gnome, who appear in different poses and in different outfits every spring.

This year, grandpa and grandpa have been immortalised dancing together and holding baby gnome while all dressed in bumble bee costumes.

Their dancing scene will set you back £8, while the buzzing family scene costs £9.

A fishing gnome will set you back £7, showing grandpa gnome in his get-up holding a kipper.

A French-themed version of grandpa gnome, dubbed the “baguette gnome”, is priced at £7, just like grandma as “croissant gnome”.

Among the rest of the £7 gnomes is a tiger gnome, gardening grandpa gnome, fairy gnome and snail gnome.

You can also pick up a rainbow gnome for a cool £6.

Fans of the new gnomes have dubbed them "adorable" on Facebook, with the bumble bee suits being a firm favourite.

"They'll look great in my collection," David Allen said.

"How cute are these?" Lyndsey Adamson added.

Disco Gnome is also back on Asda shelves too, just four months after spreading joy as an ornament at Christmas

His hand-painted spring ensemble includes a white suit, gold hat and gold chain with a ‘G’ on it.

He measures up at 25cm and will set you back just £7.

Garden gnomes have a long history in European folklore, particularly in Germany where they originated.

The concept of the garden gnome as we know it today emerged in the 19th century, coinciding with the rise of the Romantic movement in Europe.

They soon spread to the UK, with their popularity receiving a boost during the 1930s.
