Man Utd ‘make contact’ with Bayern Munich about Mathys Tel transfer but face struggle to convince goalscoring teen ace

MANCHESTER UNITED have "made contact" with Bayern Munich over the signing of striker Mathys Tel, a report claims.

The Red Devils are eyeing up a new striker but will struggle to convince the 18-year-old to make the move across the Channel.

Tel who turns 19 in April is only in his second term at Bayern after joining from Rennes in 2022.

But the starlet's performance this season has impressed many clubs across Europe.

And according to Sky Germany United are tipped to be one of the sides keen on recruiting the Frenchman in the next transfer window.

Tel is capable of playing across the frontline and his term has registered six goals and three assists in 27 games across all competitions for Bayern.

However, the club will struggle to get Tel's signature as the report adds he is determined to stay and fight for his place in the hopes of becoming a legend at the club.

Even though the reigning Bundesliga champions intend to sign a new striker to replace the veteran Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting this summer.

The report also claimed two other unnamed Premier League side have also enquired about the forward.

Meanwhile, Erik ten Hag's side has expressed his frustration with United not having sufficient funds to sign a No9 in January.

And youngster Tel is capable of playing all across the frontline though most of his 27 appearances have come from the bench this season.

One of his notable performances was scoring in Bayern's 4-3 win against United in the group stages of the Champions League in September.

United even tried to grab Tel's competitor for the No9 spot Harry Kane in the summer before his move to the Bundesliga.
